Medium Rare is famous for its prix-fixe menu ($31.95), which keeps things simple so you can focus on the fun.
• The Main Event: You can’t go wrong with the Steak & Eggs. The steak is consistently tender, topped with their “secret sauce” (a rich, savory gravy that people obsess over), and served with some of the best hand-cut fries in town. The best part? They offer free seconds of steak and fries, so you never leave hungry. I tried the 24 hours French toast, soaked in delicious goodness. You have to come hungry if you’re doing the brunch, portions are pretty big. The brunch is truly “inclusive.” For one price, you get bottomless Mimosas, Bloody Marys, Screwdrivers, coffee, soda, and fresh OJ. Unlike many spots that limit you to 90 minutes, Medium Rare is known for being generous with refills, making it a top choice for a long, celebratory brunch. Let’s just say we had two bottles of champagne in our table for our mimosas. I was also able to take home the leftover champagne. I know it was still early, and we are not a bunch of alcoholics, just ladies who enjoy brunching.

A little pricey with deceptively small portions that fill your tastebuds and stomach at the same time. With only have one dinner option, steak with fries and sauce, we were not sure if it would be worth the cost, but was pleasantly surprised. You get two plates per person like the one in the photo. First comes out the bread with crazy flaky crust and soft warm center with butter on the side. Next, your salad with lettuce, small round tomatoes cut in quarters and a balsamic vinegrette that reminded us of Olive Garden but tastier. Finally, your first main course of slice Grade A beef arranged nicely with fries and a sauce that wasn’t over powering but still tasty and combined with the steak and salad very nicely. It doesn’t look like much but by the time the second plate of steak and fries arrived I was feeling fairly full, which is saying something since I typically eat a 30oz Porterhouse from Longhorn without blinking. Music playing was 80’s with some Vanilla Ice and combined elevated the experience.
Dessert really impressed us. Very rarely have we found a Keykime pie made from scratch that not only compares to- but BEATS the best Keylime pie we’ve ever had while we vacationed in KeyWest, Florida some years back. Medium Rare’s Keylime is levels above any other and even has small pieces of keylime baked in. As we are texture sensitive, this didn’t bother us at all and only seemed to enhance the flavoring.
The ApplePie was also impressive, but not overly so. Very tasty, baked perfectly with a decent side of vanilla icecream.
Overall, we would go back.

the food was amazing. you are able to get your steak cooked any way you want! our server was Harris and he was amazing!!!! they give you a second serving afterwards for FREE!!! i loved this restaurant and will be back.

Wow. Simply Wow?! I was just wandering around looking for a place to eat and noticed the Medium Rare sign at Columbia. Who knew it would be so awesome. James, the bartender where I sat, was kind, patient, and informative. I am a whiskey sour snob and what he made reminded me of a bar called Paradisio in Barcelona – simply awesome. The fixed menu was great – the bread fresh, the salad tasty (and I do not typically eat salad), and the main course absolutely great. Whe. Wrapping up one of the servers mentioned, “I have your second round.” I did not realize that you get two main courses. What an absolutely awesome way to spend a Wed evening. The entire team we great!!

I had a very pleasant experience at medium rare, the ambiance was really nice, the customer service was amazing, and the food was delicious! My waiter was Emma, she was very kind and respectful, she was also very attentive and always had a smile. I really appreciated the service and would come here again, especially for the steak!

Had an outstanding experience. Daniel and the team did a great job. Having a single menu to work from was a little eye opening, but it did provide for less confusion. We ate outdoors, which lead to an amazing ambiance. Everything was clean and not too loud. During restaurant week, they allowed us to swap out the desert for a second cocktail. Steak was incredibly moist, flavorful, and sauce was great. Fries were cooked crisp on outside, and soft on inside. Salad was well dressed, but not too much. Cocktails were Old Fashioned made with Woodford. Key Lime pie was amazing. All in all, loved this place, and will definitely be back. You also get two plates of steak and fries, so it definitely is a value.

Fantastic experience. Steak was cooked to perfection (got it medium rare). Not pictured are eggs from the brunch menu which were amazing. Great music great vibes I will make this my new brunch spot for sure. Great spot for anyone in Columbia!!!

I am giving this restaurant five stars. I found them on open table. It was definitely an experience that I will come back for the waiter was great to staff and atmosphere was excellent and the food was delicious. Recommend if you’re in the area check them out.

Stopped in around 9:30pm they were still open for business and serving dinner. If you have not been you must go. Dynamite Steak Frites. Salad fantastic. And I love the bread. Simple. No nonsense. Just a great meal. Brian G. is the man. Definitely sit at the bar and tell him I said hello.
