Delicious salsa and warm tortilla chips, excellent cheese sauce. The enchiladas were wonderful as were the rice and (vegetarian) refried beans (served in a fried tortilla bowl). They have a vegetarian menu and the cocktail selection is great, especially for tequila and mezcal aficionados. Birria pizza is marvelous and the Mangonada margarita is my favorite (with Tajin and chamoy rim). The tropical margarita is my husband’s favorite. I’m sure you’ll find something you like at Mecate!

My wife and I grabbed a late dinner here on a weeknight, so there were only a few tables with patrons, service was quick, waitress brought food samples for dishes I hadn’t heard of and after some recommendations, I settled for Enchiladas supreme and my wife got the Taco salad. The food was excellent. Chips were 10/10, salsa was good, a little more garlic/spicy than I’m used to, but solid.
Entrees were delicious and ample portions… I’m no connoisseur of Mexican, but tasted authentic. A perfectly poured Dos Equis Amber complimented the meal perfectly.
Will be back.

The decor was nice, large booths, the music was just right and appropriate for a Mexican restaurant. We were disappointed in the food, however. The fish tacos contained very little fish, it appeared to be broken up into tiny pieces. Very disappointing. The guacamole was decent with lots of pieces of avocado and jalapeños. The fajita lacked flavor.

This was my first time visiting a Mexican restaurant — and it will definitely be a memorable one! The food was incredibly delicious, each dish a true explosion of flavors. The atmosphere was warm and friendly, and the staff was welcoming and attentive. I’m absolutely thrilled and sincerely recommend this place to anyone looking to try something new and tasty!

This was our first time here since it switched over from the pizza place.
Walking in, the restaurant, has a long bar and multiple booths. The decorations and style is neat and clean. We both thought it was very well done.
We got a table and they brought out the chips and salsa. The chips were warm like they were fresh out of the fryer and the salsa was good. It had a slightly smoky flavor to it. Different in a good way.
We ordered the shrimp ceviche appetizer and it came out very quick. It had a nice citrus flavor and there was plenty of shrimp. Good start.
My wife ordered the street tacos – 2 chicken and 2 steak. I ordered the lunch sized steak fajitas.
Both of these meals were very good. The sauce that came with my wives tacos had a little spice and I used it on my fajitas. The fajitas gave me plenty of steak. I ate the 3 tortillas full and then ate more with my fork. I was full and happy after the meal. Almost too full. I’m about to go on a walk now to digest some!
Oh yes the refried beans. These also had a slightly smoky flavor which again was very good. You have to try them to know what I mean!
The bartender / server was on point it wasn’t too busy but he didn’t miss a step covering the 4-5 tables. It took us awhile to choose what we wanted and he didn’t rush us.
We will certainly be back and I’d order the exact same thing!

We went here for the first time this past Friday (2/27). This was seriously one of the worst dining experiences we’ve ever had. We all ordered different entrees and all of our food was absolutely flavorless/cold and the meats were chewy and disgusting. Our server (younger guy) was extremely disappointing as well. When he brought our food I asked if he could grab some hot sauce (for whatever reason this is a mexican restaurant that doesn’t have hot sauce on the table). Not only did he never bring the hot sauce, he never once came back to see if we needed anything or to check if our food was ok. We never saw him again until it was time to get the check. We had to try to eat our flavorless food without any sort of hot sauce or salsa to go with it. We each had a few bites and literally couldn’t eat our food. We were also unable to get any refills on our drinks since our server had completely checked out. After eventually getting him to return and asking for the check, it then takes him 10 more minutes to bring it! It felt as though every attempt was made to ensure our dissapointment in this place. We literally left hungry and had to get food after. It was as if they did everything they could to ensure we would never come back to this restaurant. We ordered two different fajita orders, the steak tacos and a steak burrito. All were disgusting. Service was unacceptable.

Like some other reviewers, I was disappointed when Firecrust left this location. Enter Mecate, and the first thing you’ll notice is how fantastic of a job they did with the building. Tons of space, tastefully designed, and clean. We were greeted and sat at a table immediately. Our server was very attentive and polite. The manager came over and told us a little bit about this newest location, and how they plan on having Salsa dancing with lessons soon after Valentine’s Day. Also, live music to come as well. Our food came out insanely fast and was very tasty at a competitive price. We’ll definitely come back, I want to sit at the bar sometime for some beverages.

I placed a pickup order hoping to enjoy a nice Mexican meal. I didn’t mind having to wait, after all, if it’s good, it’s worth a wait. However, when I got my meal and brought it home I was very disappointed. The salad was not what is described on the menu. The cheese was barely visible and there was no avocado. The main meal, chicken mole, sadly, disappointing as well. Bits of chicken drowning in a sauce that did not resemble mole at all. They forgot the rice as well. I will not go back to this restaurant. There are others in Webster that have a better record.

4/18/25: My vegetable burrito was excellent, as were the nachos & salsas. The vege burrito was much better than Corona’s in Webster & Adelita’s in Pittsford Plaza. The waiter & staff were polite & not intrusive but attentive. ️ pop refills. The atmosphere was authentic. The eatery was clean & so was the men’s restroom . May, 2025: I’ve been there twice. It is a nice clean friendly place. The food & service are great.
