Ethiopian owner Meaza Zemedu’s Meaza Restaurant, Cafe and Gourmet Grocery Store have been featured in such press outlets as the Washingtonian and the Washington Post, was born of humble roots. Meaza Zemedu started her business by supplying local Ethiopian stores with her home-baked injera bread, a crepelike staple of Ethiopian cuisine.

Meaza Restaurant is top down the best Ethiopian restaurant in DC metro area. The food and the service are impeccable. Although I love every item on the menu my favorites include Meaza Tibs and Shuro. The service is friendly and the owner always comes around to check on each table and greet the customers. I like how open the set-up is and not small and crammed like some other restaurants. This establishment has been around for over twenty years (including their previous location just a couple of blocks down) and I have been coming all those years. Their catering service for special occasions is also top notch. Meaza recently catered my daughter’s graduation and all the guests enjoyed the spread. The catering crew was professional and made sure that everything was set up and cleaned up as agreed. I highly recommend Meaza Restaurant.

Late night options appeared to be fast food at 9:30pm until Meaza waved at me. We’re they open? Yes. We’ll take a table outside. A little communication confusion and I eventually ordered two Ethiopian beers and a combo meat and veggie platter with injera. The best ever.

We occasionally dine in the restaurant and we love the food. On May 27,2023 we ordered catering for our daughter’s birthday party and we’re beyond satisfied. The communication is so professional, the delivery is right on time and very neat! The food is so delicious that every soul that walked into our home loved the food and they went back to their house with a to go box. I mean everyone! We usually order pizza for kids but this time the kids tested it and loved it all. We did not order any fast food for the children. Not one! Thank you Meaza for making our party the talk of the neighborhood. We definitely recommend them! ❤️

This place is a charming restaurant that is family owned, serving delicious traditional Ethiopian food. Everything being freshly cooked, this place is certainly a must for everyone who loves to experience authentic Ethiopian food. I highly recommend visiting this place and to check it out. Took kids here for their first Ethiopian food ever and they loved it. Delicious food, got vegetarian combo, lamb stew and tibs. (Lamb was best.) Atmosphere is a little dark, it’s set up mostly as a banquet hall. But the food was great.

Like other reviewers noted, the service is extremely slow, although the food is good and staff is very friendly. We waited at least 45 minutes for our food. Even drinks came 20 minutes after we ordered them.
