I’m a transplant Maui resident from Philadelphia, so if you advertise that you have the best Philly cheesesteak on the island you’re gonna get a review. Honestly, where I’m from those kind of claims are basically fighting words so I’ll be honest. And calling it a Philly cheesesteak is definitely a red flag, in Philadelphia. We just called them steaks.

First of all, you have to get it with a mandatory side of fries, which isn’t really my style or something I want to spend money on.

The roll was pretty gummy and definitely not fresh. The steak was very roughly chopped, and had a bit of a funky seasoning. It was way over salted and I think I might’ve detected MSG? Either way there was something non-native to the cuisine.

Any of those things would’ve been easy enough to power through, but the cheese was definitely way out of place and completely overpowered the sandwich. It tasted funky like feet, almost like a Parmesan. It was the complete wrong kind of cheese.

It was pretty greasy, and the peppers and onions definitely helped it out. Honestly, Jersey Mike’s run circles around this cheesesteak. The only thing that they have on Jersey Mike’s is that they actually offer ketchup, which a great cheesesteak never needs, but an inferior cheesesteak benefits greatly from.

On the one bite scale, I’d give this probably a 2.3 out of 10. Their other food on the menu looks pretty good, although I see a lot of stuff smothered in mayo, which is another thing I always try to avoid.

Sorry guys, it’s good enough for here I guess, but it would never survive on the home turf in Philly. This was a $20 experiment that I won’t be repeating.

Food was great. Asked what the best thing was and the fried pork belly hit the spot. Plus the noodles was amazing. If I can go back for just the noodles I would. All over amazing. Will be back next time on Maui.

Food was extremely over-battered and way overpriced. You cannot justify $45 for 2 plates with no service. Worker was extremely rude as well, do not go to this trash establishment.
