I stopped by today after meaning to try this place for the longest time, especially after hearing so many great things. I finally ordered their salmon bagel, and wow—it completely exceeded my expectations. The salmon had the perfect level of smokiness, and paired with the whipped feta cream cheese and fresh vegetables, it was an absolute dream combination.
If you’re craving a salmon bagel, this café should be your go-to spot. It truly delivers.
I also ordered my usual iced latte with coconut, caramel, and mocha—what one of the employees jokingly called a “Sanoa,” which gave me a good laugh. Somehow, they made it even better than I imagined.
From the quality of the food and drinks to the exceptional customer service and genuine friendliness, this place surpassed my standards in every way. I’m so glad I finally stopped in—it’s officially part of my regular rotation now.

Great spot for vegan breakfast options, which is nearly impossible to find. Multiple great choices for everyone on the food side, with low prices. Convenient location to hamilton area. Nice people.
Tofu scramble bagel: 10/10 – needs a little salt and pepper, but they have it.

A welcome respite from hotel breakfast! We visited Mean Mug this morning and will likely go back tomorrow. Not sure what is different about their coffee but it was perfect. It was nice to see a vegetarian selection beyond toast. I ordered the grits and veggies bowl with tofu scramble, and it was delicious.
Update: Have been there two more times this trip. I also tried the egg and avocado toast, iced matcha latte, breakfast croissant with vegetarian sausage, and split a cinnamon roll with my partner. All food has been amazing!

Grabbed mocha coffee and green matcha and food to go. Waited a bit but food was hot and delicious. My mocha wasn’t very hot. The staff works hard and is very friendly. The restaurant seemed clean although two yellow sofa chairs were soiled, a turn off. Overall, still give this breakfast nook five stars. Thank you for serving my wife and I.

Traveling through town. Stopped here wanting to try something other than Starbucks. Everything seemed great. The lady who took my order and made my coffee was super nice. Then I tried the flat white. Boy was it flat. It was about 90% milk and barely any coffee. Worst flat white I’ve ever had. Unfortunately I was on my way to my destination before i tried it or I woukd have returned it. I ended up drinking about 1/3 of it before I could not handle it any longer. I just wanted it to get better, but it never did. WAY TOO MUCH MILK!

I love coming to this Mean Mug before work every day! The location is super convenient for me, and I love their coffee and breakfast/lunch options (my usual is a Caprese with Turkey). Their prices are also a lot better than going to Starbucks down the road, and the crew gets to know their regulars so I always get good service. With this being a local shop, I would expect a slightly longer wait on busy days, but it’s totally worth it for my daily cup of mocha.

Really great atmosphere and service! Only hiccup was they missed some small things for our drinks. Other than that, pretty nice place!

Great spot for really good biscuits, they also have huge cinnamon rolls that look great. The biscuit is fat and fluffy, just like I like my pillows- lol. Suasage , eggs, and cheese. One will be enough unless your un an eating competition. Give it it try, right across from crunch fitness by the Aloft

Traveling through Chat and noticing how the hotels are adjoined with restaurants and businesses . I find this so convenient and kind of genius.
Mean Mug looks to be offering earlier hours then most coffee shops making it easier for travelers. Super quaint atmosphere. A young staff eager to get you answers to your coffee questions . Hoping to make it back through some day.

The Mean Mug is a great spot for a casual brunch. The food is delicious, and the pastries are always a hit. The drinks could be a bit stronger (specifically the non-coffee options), but overall, it’s a decent place to hang out. The area is cute, but it’s a bit too close to the mall. This makes sense business wise, however, it disrupts the peace of the atmosphere when the traffic is a haze.
