Me Sen Thai Noodle Shop by J&T Thai Street Food Welcome to Me Sen. We wanted to create a restaurant that resembles our childhood and what we grew up eating. We want to bring that to the US for our family and friends to experience. After 30 years in the states, we were able to go back to Thailand to the same noodle shop to meet with the same friends from years ago, to enjoy ourselves and reminisce about the good old days. That experience inspired us to recreate the flavors and atmosphere of that noodle shop in our own restaurant. Our menu features classic Thai dishes such as Tom Yum noodle soup, boat noodle soup, stewed beef noodle soup, Kao Kha Moo, Kao Mun Gai and more, all made with authentic.

Located inside 99 Ranch, this spot has very limited seating, but we didn’t have to wait long for a table.

I highly recommend the Khao Man Gai (Hainanese chicken rice). It’s incredibly authentic and delicious. Even though the restaurant has a casual Thai street food vibe, the chicken rice tastes premium. I loved everything about it. It’s a must-order, even though this is technically a noodle place!

My friends really enjoyed the dry pork Tom Yum noodles.

The pork leg stew and beef noodles were also good, though they didn’t quite reach the level of the first two dishes.

Our server (the guy with the man bun) was also very nice and enthusiastic.

Me Sen Thai Noodle Shop is a small stall located inside the 99 Ranch grocery store on Clairemont Mesa Blvd, and you will spot it right as you walk in. I love how convenient it is to grab a quick Thai bite while grocery shopping. The small tables and chairs instantly reminded me of Thailand, and for a brief moment it felt like eating boat noodles from a street vendor back in Asia.

Lighting is warm and pleasant, with views out into the shopping center. Thanks to the high ceilings, noise is surprisingly manageable, and you can even hear the music playing from the stall. Everything looked clean during my visit.

I always order the Thai Beef Boat Noodles, the first item on the menu. The presentation is beautiful with lots of textures, and the flavor is incredibly rich and addictive. It packs more flavor than most noodle bowls I have had, even compared to beef pho. Portions are generous, and the food comes out fast, usually within a couple of minutes, hot and ready to eat.

Service is excellent and efficient. They greet you right away, seat you if dining in, and keep things moving quickly. They do have a high chair, but there is no restroom in the grocery store, so plan accordingly if dining with kids.

Overall, I highly recommend the beef boat noodles here. It is perfect for a quick, satisfying lunch while grocery shopping. I will definitely keep coming back.

They’ve improved a lot since their grand opening. At first, the soup was quite intense, but now it’s milder and tastes much better. Maybe because they really focus on the soup noodles, we felt their noodles are noticeably better than those at other Thai restaurants in San Diego.

Located inside 99 Ranch. Their Kao Mun Gai is pretty authentic and done very well – highly recommend if you want a basic and well made home cooked meal. We also got the beef boat which was substantial but would have preferred without the liver. Interested in trying a tom yum noodle next time. Thai tea was also good!

2nd time trying the place, although this time via food delivery. PORK TOM YUM NOODLE SOUP had nice flavor to it. we did mild spicy. it is mild but still not for kids mild. I requested for the soup to be spearated however the noodlewas mixed on the soup. maybe next time that should automatically be separated so that the noodles are not saggy. it came with a good portion, great for sharing.

the PORK LEG STEW RICE is flavorful. i just wished the meat wasn’t dry.

we defntely order and recommend. although eating it freshly served in the restaurant is still better.

We found this hidden gem on Instagram and WOW—what an amazing discovery! We’re visiting from Seattle, and as a Thai person, I can proudly say the noodles here are incredibly authentic and full of flavor. We ordered a few different noodles, Chicken and rice, Every bite reminded me of home! The service was wonderful too. Absolutely highly recommended!

I stumbled upon Me Sen Thai Noodle Shop while wandering through Ranch 99 Market on Clairemont Mesa on a Friday night, and what a lucky find! Convoy Street is my usual go-to for Asian food, but the hour-long waits can be brutal when the craving hits. This little gem had open tables, and I was seated right away.

The restaurant is cozy, just five or six tables, with a warm, casual vibe. The two women running the place were welcoming, friendly, and clearly proud of the food they serve. The menu is small but mighty, focused on authentic Thai noodle soups.

I ordered the flat noodle soup in a dark soy sauce broth with a mix of beef cuts (tendon, tripe, liver, the good stuff!). The broth was incredible, rich, savory, full of depth, but not too salty like some dark broths can be. The meats were perfectly tender, and the noodles were unique, thin but rolled into think tubes, giving them a satisfying texture. The dish came with a perfectly cooked soft-boiled egg, fresh cilantro, and just a hint of sweetness to balance the umami. I added chili flakes (because, of course, you have to add spice!) and it was absolutely perfect.

Service was quick and attentive, the restaurant was spotless, and the whole experience felt like finding a hidden secret. This is hands-down one of the best casual Asian meals I’ve had in San Diego lately.

If you love Thai food, or even if you’ve never tried Thai noodle soup, this place is a must-visit. It’s comforting, flavorful, and hits the spot without the long wait of Convoy. I can’t wait to go back and try the rest of the menu!

This is inside the same building as the original 99 Ranch Market. Be prepared to have patience in looking for parking. We ordered at the counter and they seated us after. My mom ordered the Tom Yum Chicken Noodle soup and I had the Pork Tom Yum Noodle Soup. Both soups were very good and well seasoned.

Tucked away inside a building next to a 99 Ranch is this hidden gem! You would never expect it but the Thai noodle soup being served here is amazing! It’s savory, sweet and sour just like so many authentic Thai dishes. They have a simple and small menu filled with various Thai noodle soup and that’s always a good sign. They focus on quality food rather than a large menu selection.

We got the beef boat noodle and chicken tom yum soup. I highly recommend both. The tom yum soup is less sour than the beef boat soup, but I would definitely order both again.

The staff was very sweet and friendly and our food came out pretty fast. We will definitely be coming back. I meant to take a picture before we took our first bite, but we dove straight into our meals since it looked so delicious!
