Social Profile:

The property at 511 North Church Street was acquired by Vinton Liddell in 1891 for a sum of $3,000. It was on this very plot that Mr. Liddell erected the residence that now stands, becoming the abode of the McNinch family for the majority of its existence. Inside, the craftsmanship is a testament to Victorian artistry, with intricate, richly molded woodwork adorning both levels of the residence. Under the guidance of the esteemed architect Mr. Karl Bitter, renowned for his work at the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, many of these designs, including the exquisite, coffered ceiling in the Library, were replicated. The residence boasts 10 tiled fireplaces, with a distinctive 3-way fireplace serving as a focal point, connecting the foyer, library

McNinch House Restaurant in Charlotte, NC, is a hidden gem. Our second visit for our 25th wedding anniversary reaffirmed it’s our favorite for special occasions. Nestled in a restored Victorian home, the experience transports you to an era of elegance, with history preserved in every detail, from antique furnishings to intimate dining rooms.
The food was terrific, each prix-fixe course highlighting seasonal ingredients and flawless technique. The wine pairing was exceptional; each glass came with an origin story, featuring unique varietals that paired perfectly.
Service was attentive yet unobtrusive, enhancing the magical vibe.
Quirky tip: Check the bathroom – it’s a historical delight worth seeing (who knew?).
A fantastic evening; we’ll return soon. For romantic, upscale dining in Charlotte, there’s no match.

We celebrated our 25th Wedding Anniversary here and it was the most amazing meal experience ever. Beautiful setting, best-in-class service and best food ever!

Inclusive of the beautiful historic setting I and best ever service, we really enjoyed the fact that there was no menu. Chef O’Conner reached out to us prior to our reservation to ask us about our culinary likes and he amazingly prepared a multi-course meal that impressed us at every course. The wine pairing was also spot on.

In a world full of places with hundreds of items on their menus, it felt like stepping back to a simpler more pure time where you could just enjoy the moment and not worry about making an incorrect choice of food or wine and missing out on something.

Thank You All for the best meal experience ever!!!

We look forward to enjoying this experience with our kids!!!

Best dining experience in Charlotte! Went there to celebrate my birthday and our wedding anniversary and Chef Eric and his sous made us a 5 course dinner from start to finish and we enjoyed every bite! Our favorite dish was the butternut squash soup with homemade bread. There were wine tastings with each course and our servers were so nice and knowledgeable. Best experience and we highly recommend

By far the best dining experience we’ve ever had. Curated dishes unique to each table and dietary needs. Each visit to the table, each dish, and every aspect of the evening is set with intention, passion and care. Not to mention the setting is stunning; parking convenient. Doesn’t get any better than McNinch. Bravo Chef Eric and team.

A night to remember at The McNinch House ✨

Growing up, my Dad wasn’t just an industrial engineer—he was a hobby chef with serious skills. He spent his childhood in restaurants, and at home, he brought that magic to our table. I didn’t grow up eating “normal kid food,” and to this day, he’s the best cook I know. My love for food? 100% from him.

The McNinch House has been on my list for over a decade—and let me tell you, it was worth the wait. Executive Chef Eric O’Connor, who joined just a year ago, blew us away.

We had the 4-course tasting menu (I truly don’t know how people survive the 5-course!), and every dish was a standout:

*Corn & Clam Chowder – the cream is everything
*Bone Marrow – best I’ve ever had
*Lamb Lollipops (my husbands) – best I’ve ever had
*Pork Wellington (my husbands) – the basil took it over the top
*Snapper Succotash – the bacon made it
*Crème Brûlée – perfectly done

From the surprise oyster starter (cool presentation served in a shell over ice) to the palate-cleansing sorbet between courses, every detail was thoughtful and special.

Chef Eric personally served our entrée—how cool is that? The service was impeccable, with a main server and 2-3 others helping throughout. At the end, they even handed me a freshly picked rose from their garden.

We dined in a historic 1800s home filled with charm, and afterward strolled through the garden—flowers everywhere, twinkle lights, fountains, and the Charlotte skyline in view.

I had to ask for the chef’s autograph and a photo—he’s just that good. We told him he deserves a star, and he smiled and said, “We’re on the list.” So now I’m shouting from the rooftops: let’s help make that Michelin star happen! He absolutely deserves it.

Thank you, Chef Eric and the entire McNinch House team, for one of the most enchanting, romantic, and memorable meals I’ve ever had in Charlotte. The whole evening—2.5 hours of pure joy—was not just dinner, it was an experience. ❤️

I don’t think it lives up to the hype, I expect more from a fine dining experience.

In general the food was just bland and unremarkable.

We had high expectations of McNinch as it was recommended by locals and the reviews looked good, but we left disappointed.

The pacing of the meal left a lot to be desired…we had gaps of 20+ minutes between courses. We were at our table for nearly 3 hours.

The wine pairings were adequate, but we didn’t get any context on the reason for the pairings.

The portions served for a 5 course meal were massive, the halibut and short rib portions that were served to us would have worked as a standalone entree, not a component of a 5 course tasting menu. There was a lot of waste.

Some positives
The Atlantic Beach Pie was to die for, never experienced this take before.

The cook on the halibut was well executed but it was hard to get over the size of the portion.

Phenomenal dinner with such attention to details! My husband surprised me for my birthday! I must say there’s just no way to ever top this remarkable dinner! Matt, the sommelier, perfectly paired wines with each course & then some! He really made us feel heard & special! The plating was over the top perfection! Each course was perfectly timed, as we had the table for the evening! I could not pick a favorite course. They were all Michelin five star quality!
My husband wants to return for his birthday!!
