This Mcmenamins location feels like a smaller cozy diner vibe. It has lots of counter seating and other booths. Everything we ordered was delicious, best breakfast!
Pro tip: if ordering the breakfast burrito it is huge, big enough to share for 2 people.
Our service was great, super friendly. Would definitely recommend!

We just got takeaway food, but it was really good. The Bavaria chicken sandwhich was great and the cheese pizza was also really yummy (tasted like a good European pizza). Our son also liked the chicken tender plate and the tots are always yummy!

This place has a 1940s old world vibe. Beautiful decor and atmosphere, accompanied by great food and service. I had the Northern Exposure scramble and it was amazing. Absolutely delicious. They also have gluten free bread! If in Olympia and looking for a good breakfast place, I highly recommend McMenamins Spar Cafe.

First time I’ve been to the Spar since McMennamins took over. They actually saved the 90 year old Olympia restaurant icon, so it was long overdue that I visit. It was beautiful inside, with original photos of the town and early patrons.
I’ve been craving a good Eggs Benedict, so I ordered that, along with hash browns (extra brown!)
The Hollandaise looked and tasted nothing like a real Hollandaise sauce, and the hashbrowns looked and tasted like they’d been deep-fried. The ham was absolutely tasteless, on my bnedict as well as in my husband’s omelette/bowl. Everything they serve seems to have started frozen or canned. Our server even told us the cottage fries and hashbrowns start out frozen, but she said the Hollandaise sauce was made fresh. If so, their cook needs to work on his sauce, desperately.
When the food arrived, my husband asked for more coffee and some ketchup. It took over 20 minutes to get it.
On the positive side, my Bloody Mary was good other than way too much ice and an up-charge of $4 for the slice of semi-uncooked bacon I asked to add to it.
Very overpriced and subpar food. Won’t be back.

This beautiful bar and restaurant is part of the Mcmenamins franchise that restores old buildings into new hip purposes. There is a billiards table, shuffleboard, and private booths. This place has character.

This diner is located in the downtown of Olympia and has some of the best pancakes in town. I enjoy coming here because of the history behind the restaurant and the good food. If you want some good breakfast, come to McNenamins Spar Café!

My family and I have been here often, all those times were great! I decided, let’s bring the friends! I had emailed for a table of 10. All was set, unfortunately when we arrived our reserved spot was taken. I informed the wait staff, we had a found a table big enough so all was well. However, I was super impressed that Heidi personally came out to apologize to us! All the wait staff that helped our table was nice and efficient, and as always the food and drinks were 10/10. Thanks for a great night! (This is a pic from the time before, we were to busy enjoying ourselves to take a pic)

Recommended by a friend and she was right! Awesome service a and great food. Enjoyed the standard Beer flight before ordering a nice IPA with my Vera Cruz Tres Tacos. Brittany even brought out a bowl of water for Bella!

Reading the menu should have told me enough. Their top item on the menu, “chicken fried steak” came with “sausage gravy” like literally nowhere else I’ve ever seen.
Fine, they’re serving a weird dish. I avoided it and ordered potatoes eggs sausage and a biscuit side with their “sausage gravy”.
And of course they did what every restaurant in the north does, either tries to stretch a country flour gravy simply by adding milk and flour for eternities after the initial gravy is made, or worse they add the milk before the flour like I did the first time I tried it myself, and having nothing really to compare to, assume that see through watery appearance and gritty texture is unavoidable. Not to mention no a single piece of sausage in the quarter cup of gravy I tried.
That, plus the eggs and potatoes, smh. If it wasn’t for the frozen sausage they had shipped in I would have swore I had Covid again. There’s simply no way a restaurant brings out an entire plate with 0 salt, 0 seasonings, absolutely no taste, I thought.
But sure enough the sausage made elsewhere made me realize, they’re not paying a chef enough in the back. Cause whoever’s back there needs to go or be trained.

First time at the Soar Cafe. We really enjoyed the atmosphere and the food was great! The wife has celiacs and absolutely no issues with the food and processing. Cute and historic place. Also, the water was amazing! Server said it’s from an artesian well! No chlorine taste like most city water.
