I loved the overall vibe of this place! I only had appetizers for food, but it was really good! Also, my waitress was so kind. They were doing a special promo of adding Halloween candy with their drinks and mine had candy corn. She noticed I had picked them off and then apologized profusely for assuming I could eat them (I was really not upset) and then swapped them out for something I could have. So sweet! And my drink was very good.

Visiting Seattle and found this spot close to my Air BnB. I planned on eating my way through the neighborhood during my stay, looking for Ethnic and unique. I stopped in here anyway to get a drink. The rye cocktail (Oceans something) was good, served on a large rock in a substantial rocks glass. Loved the style and weight it added. And I’m picky. It isn’t much more expensive than most places around the area, but not cheap eats. Limited menu but more items than some. I came back for a burger a few days later, because I needed something quick, and enjoyed the staff during my prior visit. and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the burger, but honestly those tots were fire. Perfect crispy and soft ratio, WITH fry sauce. I would go again just for them. I ordered the same drink and this time it was served up (pictured) so that was a little inconsistent, but the flavor was spot on.
I know, not “foodie ” level food but sometimes you just want consistency and a good conversation. I know this is a “chain” in the PNW but I didn’t realize they were in Washington and not just Oregon. I think it is supposed to be their vibe, and don’t get me wrong I’m thankful it isn’t the industrial starkness we’ve seen as of late, but the place could use a little face-lift. The staff are friendly and chatty, not just with each other but welcoming and real, and my favorite part of the visit.

Not bad, not amazing, just okay. We got burgers and a beer after seeing a movie and sat on their tiny outdoor patio. The burgers were nicely seasoned but a bit thin, and a bit on the overcooked side. The waitress did ask us if medium was okay, we both asked for rarer than that and got something more rare but not true “rare” or “medium rare “. That said, the Cajun tots are delicious, very crunchy and nicely seasoned. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend the spot as something unmissable but it’s decent food for decent prices and it’s easy to get in on a Saturday evening.

Came in for a drink, food and games. As always love the McMenamins vibe. Got the beer flight and enjoyed all six that I ordered. The burger was as good as it could be given they use premade patties. If they ground their own beef they probably would get a five star. The highlight of the meal was my wife’s cocktail. The Matcha-a Made In Heaven was worth the trip alone. But hay got the McMenamins passport so going to hit every location no matter what. Love you guys

Avoid this place if you are looking to satiate immediate hunger.
This was my first meal of the day and second time eating here.
Previous visit I had sliders and Cajun tots with a ruby beer.
I can tell there is someone different in the kitchen because the portion of tots I had with my burger along with the amount of seasoning was significantly less than the first time. That said,
I ordered the dungeon burger instead of sliders this time and despite the server asking me how I wanted it (medium), I got a well done burger. I finished half because I was hungry and needed to eat.
Additional to that there was a split hair in my sauce.
I disregarded it because as a gay man my mouth has known hair if you catch my drift.
I won’t be back in the future though despite loving the ambiance due to the fact that I can see that turnover is high for management here and it shows in their attention to service and cleanliness. They didn’t start clearing tables until they noticed me reviewing.
Definitely NOT worth the price!
PS– I made mention to the server that my sauce had hair in it and that my burger was well done. He “remedied” it by mentioning in the most haughty/curt tone that my beer was on the house. I told him it was okay because I didn’t feel like contesting anything and just wanted to get home. I left the money and exited.
I do hope they get better thought because this is a pretty dope place in terms on of the ambiance.

A bit disappointed overall with the prize and the service. First off, the dungeon burger with Cajun totes was really good. But the one-pound chicken wings look sad for the $24 price. We also had to wait for about half an hour for food on a Saturday afternoon. I was so hungry that I started eating ketchup on the table. My experience at other mcmenamins were better, maybe it’s the capital hill vibe.

Roaming around Seattle, we found this to be a fabulous spot to stop for a drink. The outdoor seating was ideal for the sunny day we had, and our server Ben was a pleasure. This bar has so much personality and charm it was hard to take it all in with one trip. There is a lot going on at this location and parking wasn’t the easiest to find, but it was worth it!

I think perhaps they should work on their Decor or the fengshui of the restaurant it’s awkward to get to the bar because they have that railing there so you’re barely able to squeeze past anybody to get your seat pulled out to pull up to the bar. You have no room. it’s not clear which audience that they want to serve. They’re in the heart of an area with young people but it seems like it’s more like a retirement type resort. it’s like a bunch of retired people coming here. there’s not enough young people coming into the restaurant and by Young I mean people under 50 years old. The bartenders are always standing around saying how slow it is and every time I’ve come in during happy hour it’s been empty I’ve also been the only black person in there every time that I’ve gone. I always spend almost $100 there even if it’s happy hour and I think I’m just over it. Unless they’re making the alcohol themselves from scratch. I don’t think it should be that expensive and for the small portion of food you get on some of the plates it’s not worth 100 something dollars.every time i go I leave a tip I never get a thank you or anything for it. once you pay and leave the tip it’s like you were never there. I tried it but I’m done. Also I thought that the McMenamins bought beautiful old buildings I’m not sure what this one is. And I know that they want to keep everything in the family but it would be nice if they had some more diverse staff. Just because it’s in Capitol Hill doesn’t mean that everyone working there has to be a stereotype of piercings and flannel it wouldl be nice if they had a mix of employees that represented the community that they were serving. I prefer male bartenders I don’t want the bartenders just standing there staring at me watching me eat and drink if they’re not going to talk and make conversation it’s just awkward so I think I’m done this time I’m not going back. They’re a friendly place but there needs to be more energy brought into this place the happy hour needs to have more stuff on it and it needs to be more affordable options and I need to make it more comfortable to stay for awhile. But I’m done I still have to get groceries and I spent $100 there and I’m going to have to eat again

The bar’s oddities and mystical-themed interior are incredibly cool, and the cocktails are both creative and intriguing. The service was friendly, but the understaffing led to long waits, and the food, while decent, was disappointingly basic for the high price. Overall the ambiance and drinks are the main draw, but the experience could be improved with additional staff and better execution of the food.
