I came for a birthday meal with my husband, it was spur of the moment bc a place next door was a little stuffy. We thought the rooftop bar would be a blast, but sadly was a dud Dilly tuna sandwich tasted like it had been left out for a week. My husband got the Raging Cajun Tacos, he couldn’t even bite through the chips. We really didn’t eat much but the Scooby snack appetizer which was the only good part of the meal. I had to ask for napkins. Two beers, tacos, nasty tuna and scooby snacks=$69 View is gorgeous. Bartender is cool. Too bad about the food.

Whether you’re in the main pub downstairs, or the rooftop bar a few floors up, the menu is pretty much the same. You know what to expect from the McMenamins kitchen, although none of their signature pizzas are on offer here, it seems (no Hammerhead BBQ pizza for me, today!). Both the food and the service are solid: we enjoyed a surprisingly delicious Seven Castles Stockpot (a sausage, bacon and cabbage stew over sweet polenta) and a couple drinks, while moving between locations and collecting stamps for our passports. We were seated immediately in both locations, and other than our ground floor server being a little bit spacey (we had to flag her down to get our second cocktail from the bar), we enjoyed our time both above and below.

Only thing about this place that was decent was the view and the single glass of ice water. The the fancy drinks were watered down and lackluster. They took a solid 20 minutes to arrive. The food took 45 minutes or more. We were asked to cash out before receiving the food and 45 minutes later I had to go to the bar to ask where it was. Finally it arrived after an hour long wait and was cold and unappetizing. They threw cold tofu in a barely warm tikka sauce and dumped it over rice that was cooked to oblivion. Wish I could get my tip back from the waiter that left us with no service. Now I am mad and hungry.

You need to ask yourself several questions before committing to this restaurant: are you hungry? Are you willing to wait over an hour for cold food? Is the view worth the mediocre meal you are about to have?

I did not ask myself these questions and ended up waiting an hour and thirty minutes for cold food that was not worth the price. I will not make the same mistake again. The folks working the bar tried their hardest to get updates on my order, but were repeatedly hung up on by the kitchen.

The worst part, believe it or not, was not the cold, mediocre, overpriced, unsalted food. It was the fact that after I shoved sustenance in my mouth as fast as I could so I could leave, I walked out through a completely empty restaurant. I expected to see cavorting crowds and lines around the block. Turns out, they are just really incompetent.

TL;DR don’t order more than a drink if you want to have a decent time.

The rooftop part is cool but EVERY table was FULL of dirty dishes from the customers before. We had to bus our table so we could sit up there! The service is TERRIBLE up there. You have to get your own everything, except when they bring you your order. I literally asked the waitress if she could bring some napkins when she brought us our food & she literally said, “Well, you can go down & get them yourself.” No one comes to check on you r anything. You need silverware? A refill? You go get it. They even ran out of water! WATER. Get it together!

3rd time I have been to this restaurant and everytime my food has been horrible. I ordered the Mac n cheese with bbq pork and caramelized onions. I got a bowl of noodles that looked like they were covered with velveta cheese and BBQ sauce. No onions and no pork. 3 other customers complained about the same thing. The manager gave me $6 off my $18 dollar lunch. Stick to drinks and eat elsewhere. The food is below par.

The rooftop view is incredible! Ryan was taking care of us up there and he was doing great, our cocktails were fantastic and his composure never wavered even after a group of particularly difficult customers that were complaining about slow service (despite it being very clear there was only 1 bartender)

10/10 would recommend and whatever Ryan’s spin on the menus gin drink was phenomenal.

What a nice, cozy place, like a bar in Holland with fabulous outside seating in summer or edge seasons, complete fantastic views! (。•̀ᴗ-)و ̑̑✧
