We were in from Chicago and stoped in at this little corner bar and OMG did we have a blast! From the old Anheuser Busch memorabilia, to the fantastic wings and absolutely wonderful people it was truly a 5 star experience. Our bartender, Carol, was truly one of a kind! Talking to her was like talking to a long lost friend. The wife and I were made to feel so comfortable and accepted. We didn’t want to leave. Wish I could bring Carol back to Chicago! Will certainly be back!

Thursday night Kereoke was a blast. The age range was college kids to Vietnam Vets and everyone had a great time.

I was one of the early arrivals of my large group to meet at this bar, and for some reason the older lady who was bartending saw me going up the stairs to the second level and suddenly stopped me like she had a problem (yelled) with me doing so. A few minutes later, she told me she didn’t mean to be rude but her attitude was still unnecessary and unacceptable. She also didn’t tell me why I (personally) couldn’t go upstairs.
She was abrupt and my friends and I thought the whole situation was very weird.
I only wanted to see if other members of my group were upstairs after this woman told my friends we were welcome to go upstairs.
Hopefully, our group coordinator won’t pick this bar again. This bar made good money from us but the bartender was rude to me in front of my group and the other people at the bar.

I came here solely for a burger and was pleasantly surprised! As an elder millennial, I am over the subpar overpriced “smash burgers” all over the city.
You’ll see in other reviews that they serve a charbroiled burger here. The meat was plentiful and cooked correctly. The lettuce, tomato, and onion were fresh with proper portions (seriously STL, stop being so skimpy). My side of fries were perfectly crispy. The value of what you pay vs what you get puts this place in my list.
Lastly, the bartender who helped me was incredibly friendly. I’ll come back to try more food soon!
PS: The bar allows smoking, so if that bothers you elect for takeout!

They have charbroiled burgers, which is a very nice positive and I really appreciate this place for that. If you only care for the food, don’t recommend ordering on Thursday nights because they have karaoke nights starting at 9. I don’t know if the booze is any good there, I only get to go orders and don’t drink.
Just know that they’re a smoking bar, so if you don’t like that, you might want to try somewhere else. It’s a small place and the smoke is hard to avoid, especially when busy.
Seems like a fun atmosphere if you’re into dive bars, especially if you want to hear people try to sing your favorite songs on karaoke night.

Awesome. I called ahead for a food order since I’m making a pickup down the block.
Food was quick. Burger was overgrillled and crunchy but I was hungry.
Seemed like a nice bar if you’re into smokey places, which I’m not. So if you’re allergic to cigarette smoke, probably best to avoid.

Friendliest staff around. Lisa is the best. We even got invited to their charity golf tournament and had a blast! Highly recommend. We loved living within walking distance from there and miss going there on the regular.

Karaoke on Thursday nights becomes almost too crowded to be able to enjoy the event. Definitely a ” neighboorhood” bar atmosphere.

We were looking for a place to watch the U.S.A. and England for the World Cup and couldn’t get in anywhere. We looked these guys up and pulled in. There was no one in the bar except Greg, the bartender and owners son. I was at first disheartens but Greg did everything to accommodate me and my family. The drinks were cold, and the food was great. We had a wonderful experience hanging at this very cool local corner bar! Thanks Greg!

Make no mistake, this is a classic STL corner bar. No frills, just good service and cold beer. You might catch a funny look if you’re an outsider, but it’s a friendly enough crowd. However, the hamburger was exactly what I hoped to find: simple ingredients and perfect execution. That burger makes McClain’s a true hole-in-the-wall find. Next time I’m having the grilled chicken wings…..
