This place is fantastic! We came here for my friend’s birthday and had such a great time. Our server was super nice and attentive. He made sure we had everything we needed and kept checking in as more people from our group showed up. He even brought out a round of apple pie shots for the table on THE HOUSE, and the shots were gooood.

Foodwise, the cheese curds and fried pickles were bomb. The wings were also really good. The nachos are a HUGE but honestly weren’t that great, so I’d skip those next time I go.

Also, they’re real big on you MUST have an ID to enter. I’ve been to a lot of dive bars where they don’t really care, but if you don’t have an ID they will not let you in so don’t forget it.

Overall, great vibes, great service, and I’d definitely come back for the cheese curds.

I popped into McKenzie’s yesterday with a few friends to catch a couple of games, and, unsurprisingly, the place was packed. I’ve been coming here for years, usually on Tuesday nights for trivia, but I hadn’t really tested it on other days. Turns out? This place is rarely slow. Ever.

Even with a full house, the service was fast-paced and on point. Drinks and food came out quickly, servers kept things moving, and no one looked stressed or forgotten, which, in a packed neighborhood bar, is saying something.

They’ve got a great happy hour menu and daily specials, though I’ll admit I’m a creature of habit. I always go for a Moscow mule, plus an order of their amazing wings and deep-fried cheese curds, because let’s be honest, this is a Wisconsin bar, and the curds are non-negotiable. Thankfully, they never disappoint.

McKenzie’s is one of those rare spots that works for everything: game nights, trivia, casual hangs, or that moment when your friend group just needs a reliable place to park it for a few hours. There’s always something going on, no matter what night of the week you show up.

Final verdict: McKenzie’s is a 10/10 – a full-on Wisconsin tavern experience, just with better weather. Come for the games, stay for the cheese curds, and leave feeling like you just survived a Friday fish fry with your dignity intact and your cholesterol slightly higher.

McKenzie’s Midtown Tavern absolutely knocked it out of the park! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with warm smiles and a laid-back, welcoming atmosphere that made us feel right at home.
The food? Outstanding. Every bite was better than the last. The cheese curds alone are worth the trip—perfectly crispy on the outside, gooey on the inside, and dangerously addictive. Pair those with an ice-cold beer (which they serve at just the right temperature), and you’re in bar food heaven.
Special shoutout to Doug and Alexis, who delivered top-notch service all night long. Friendly, attentive, and genuinely fun to chat with—these two are a huge part of what makes McKenzie’s such a great place to hang out.
Whether you’re grabbing a quick bite, meeting friends for drinks, or just looking for a great local spot, McKenzie’s Midtown Tavern is the place to be. Can’t wait to go back! Actually, I’m going back tonight and meeting up with a friend for a fun night.

Doug and Sidney are part of the all-star cast that is McKenzie’s. But I also need to include Alexis. Trivia is on Monday and Tuesday nights, with karaoke on Wednesday and live band karaoke on Friday (I think). Good vibes all around, clean bathrooms and delicious food, we did the pork bites and had zero complaints. They also have a decent selection of non-alcoholic beers available including Guinness and Sierra Nevada IPA.

This was a cool little neighborhood type of bar. Their decor consists of Christmas lights everywhere, which have it a nice little vibe. The drinks were good, reasonably priced and the bartender was friendly. They don’t have gluten-free options so I just ordered a burger without the bun, it was good. I’ve gone on a Friday around 6pm and there wasn’t much going on but it was still a good vibe. I also went on a Sunday evening and they had a live band and karaoke, it was very lively and fun. I would definitely go there again.

I’ve been going to mackenzie’s for years. Shrinkflation has happened here. Got flipping the bird the breading was completely different for what I’m used to. Much less chicken and it just wasn’t flavorful. Love the bar but it affects where I spend my money.

Really great place. Good atmosphere. Food was great in general. But good for bar food. Too good for bar food. The loaded nachos easily can feed two people. The BBQ sliders have good Smokey flavor. The potato salad has to be homemade. Fresh dill and a huge kick. The waiter and waitress were very nice and helpful. Drinks are fresh and yummy. I will for sure come back to this place. The decorations and ambiance are refreshing. The music was good. But not too loud you cannot hear anything anymore.

Nice local place, good drinks and reasonable prices. Good amount of local beers on tap and in bottles. My only complaint is the menu advertised JUMBO wings and in reality they were normal and or small. We had draft beers and tried the Espresso Martinti shots and the Apple Pie shots, both very good for the price.
