The employees were super nice and respectful so everything went well there. But man was I disappointed in the food. The chicken was BOMB. I’ll give them that. It was nice and crispy and not overly oily like some places. 10/10 for the chicken. But as for the sides, I was pretty disappointed. The Mac and cheese tasted like butter noodles with no cheese. The greens were pretty okay, but a little too salty. The side of toast went well with the meal so that was nice. The fries, not so much. They were pretty flavorless. I was then pretty shocked when I got my mild sauce and it was basically sweet and sour? Maybe I don’t know my sauces but I was not expecting that. I was also sad to see my banana pudding was missing that I was looking forward to so sadly I don’t have a review for that. If I were to ever go back I’d only go for the chicken. They also have yams but I didn’t try those. My partner tried a gyro and was pretty sad that it was tiny/flavorless. BUT, he loved the chicken.
I also recommend ordering ahead if you can and doing take out. Everything is made to order so it takes a bit to make and there’s only one small table so it’s not really fit for groups or sitting down. While waiting for my meal I got bored and went over to the gas station this store is connected to and bought a soda and a couple of lottery tickets. I was a winner winner chicken dinner as they say!! I got a whopping $1 woo.

Y’all are insane if you judge this place on anything but the food. It’s attached to a gas station lmao. Also, it’s going to be slightly late, just expect that, but it’s worth it. I was told ready in 15, I arrived like 20 minutes after, and waited for 5 min. Worth it.
My pictures as follows are regular wings, whole chicken, and hot wings. I’d recommend getting the regular wings and mild and or spicy sauce to dip, they stay crispier that way. The bread and fries are not good, but I don’t care, it’s about the chicken and only the chicken. I got my fix

The chicken was incredible!! It gets five stars! I was really impressed by this hole in the wall chicken place. It definitely could use cleaning, and as others have said, the ambience is incredibly lacking, but it’s not an issue if you get take out The fries were also underwhelming. I got the half chicken so I could taste the white and dark meat, both great but the dark meat was much better!

Beef Taco was bland, and vegetable toppings we void of nutrients and flavor.. prolly a Gyro turned Taco. The chicken sandwich made me disappointed in myself.

The Chicken Philly had black bits in it that appeared to be scraped off the grill. Disgusting. It was like chewing on egg shells. I had to throw it away. Waste of money. Will NOT be back. Quality is just not there

Most delicious chicken and gizzards. They do food right and it stayed piping hot all the way home. It’s not a pleasant place to sit and eat though. It was not very clean and an angry customer was telling very loudly.

My co worker she’s from Chicago also she recommended them to me. I wasn’t disappointed at all. I got a 3 piece catfish lemon pepper with mild sauce and it was awesome!! This is the closest I can get to chicago. The owner was very insightful and very nice. Thank you so much for the good food. The mild sauce on the fries was really good. I will be back.

McGees has been around for a while and has never done people wrong with their food. They have some good home cooked food right here. They have sea food and chicken. But this restaurant is more than that. They have a lot to choose from. It’s family owned and some great people. If you’re looking for some good home style food even for that Sunday family time sitting at that table eating, this is the spot to come to for sure.
