McDonalds Hawai’i should be embarrassed for how this store is managed and maintained. I’m standing at the counter when they call my name/order, then they just set it behind the counter and walk away, not even giving me 3 seconds to receive it. Literally went behind the counter to grab it myself. And then let’s talk about the sheer level of disgusting as soon as you walk in the door. Trash is literally overflowing. And not just the one by the front door but all the trash is overflowing(see images). How gross and embarrassing. You can even see in the images, it’s not like they were busy. There’s not even a single customer sitting inside. And drive through was empty, so there’s really no excuse. Then again, would you want to eat somewhere where you had to stare and smell such a mountain of trash?

I just wanted to give a heads up for those who don’t know.
I was one of them.
I ordered the spam, eggs & rice platter but substituted with bacon instead.
I drove home, opened up the platter and there was just a teenie tiny slice of bacon but with a good amount of rice & eggs.
So I drove back, went inside and waited in line patiently until it was my turn to be helped.
I explained to the associate or (looked like) the manager my situation and asked if that’s how it is served. She said, yeah. I replied, “wow! Can I just get the spam instead?” She was glad to help and that right there earned her store a 5 star rating!
I guess my gripe would be with corporate… one slice? You gotta be kidding me! Auwe! No can.

Thursday, July 31.2025: Went thru the drive thru to order! So very disappointed at my Happy Meal Chicken Nuggets! What they gave me sure doesn’t look to like chicken nuggets and when calling to let them know of my wrong order, nobody answers the phone! That’s double annoying! So incompetent!
Friday, August 1, 2025: Tried calling McDonalds throughout the day and into the evening on Thursday, July 31, but still nobody answers the phone. Decided to go back to McDonalds this early morning. Went in and Jason, was at the register. I explain to him what had happened the day before about my wrong order! He was very rude and his answers to me were very LAME! After our words were exchanged, he just walks away! A few minutes, the manager, Anna comes and I explain to her and show her my picture I took of my order! She’s so sweet, very compassionate and apologizes to me many times. Thank u Anna for ur kindness and assistance in helping me, u are a great manager! Please teach Jason some manners so he can better himself! I give Manager Anna 10 STARS!

For a McDonald’s situated right in the heart of downtown Honolulu, this location is surprisingly well-managed and serves its purpose perfectly. The restaurant was notably clean, which is a major plus in such a high-traffic area. Service was also quick; I didn’t have to wait long for my order, making it an ideal choice for a fast, reliable meal break.
The only minor inconvenience, though entirely expected for a downtown spot, was the locked restrooms, which require a key from staff, a common measure to manage heavy foot traffic and loitering. Overall, for a clean, quick, and efficient fast-food experience in a busy urban core, this McDonald’s is a solid four stars.

The Big Mac I ordered was delicious. The pie of the month Taro only on Hawaii. Onolious! Every restaurant you go to on Oahu are “SHORT STAFFED ” . SO be patient!

The hours on the door show dine-in available until midnight, but when I came just to pick up my order (which I had placed ahead of time for counter pickup), the staff told me I had to use the drive-thru instead. The drive-thru line was very long, which defeated the whole point of ordering ahead to save time. It really doesn’t make sense.

The restaurant bathrooms aren’t easy-to-use..it’s a
security related issue! Video monitoring and public announcements about reporting ILLEGAL BEHAVIOR TO THE POLICE WITH A DESCRIPTION…THIS SHOULD NOT BE legal they make mistakes and the police force is excessive..I don’t feel safe when this happens

I never write reviews but after going through a very slow drive thru line for a number of weeks, I am sitting, in line, after 20 minutes and have not reached the order window. On top of that, I did a mobile order. I used to like going through this McDonald’s drive thru but may have to rethink this.

Order was wrong in the drive thru, which took about 15 minutes to get through. Then went inside to exchange my food and it had a wet musty smell. McDonald’s needs to staff properly, the interactions I had were kind, but they were clearly insanely short staffed.

I don’t usually bother leaving a review for a fast food joint but someone should check on this place. The drive-thru line moved incredibly slowly taking approximately 15 mins for me to get from order speaker to the window with only a few cars in line. The menu screen looked absolutely gross and neglected so I can’t imagine what the kitchen looks like. When I finally got to the window I was handed an 80% full drink that had soda running down the side and no straw (wasn’t in the bag either), partially full unsalted fries, and a semi-passable sandwich. The whole experience just fell short yes even for a McDonald’s.
