So my wife and I were at this location on last Tuesday morning and placed an order which was pretty normal.
When the lady read the order back she did not recall the order as we gave it to her which was also not an issue considering the language barrier.
We proceeded to the window to pay for the order however before paying I asked her to repeat the order back to me so that I could ensure that the order was correct. She gave me a look that could have unalive me 3 times if she could. I informed her that the order was incorrect and restated what I ordered. It was corrected after a few minutes of going back and forth, BUT I was over charged.
We pulled to the next window to pick up the food, but by this time it was cold and we were not given a refund for the overcharge. To not hold up the line my wife decided to go inside with the receipt to get the refund and I asked for the order to be made hot if it wasn’t too much. I handed the bag back and saw that wife was having difficulty inside so I asked that the order just be canceled.
I went inside the building to see what was holding my wife up and the same woman at the payment window was being a bit rude and harsh until a manager came in and told the lady to walk away and she refunded our order.
I know thia is not representation of the McDonalds company, but the treatment we received this particular morning was terrible. I hope that no one is treated the way we were at this particular morning when you only want a decent breakfast to start the day.
When it comes to service, the people are not the problem, the problem is the problem. How a company responds to it is what determines keeping a customer vs losing one.
They just mopped the place with water that is probably dirty and stinky. So it smells bad.
The store manager and corporate office should pay close attention to customer feedback and incorporate it into staff training at this location.
I’ve included the exact time and date of the incident so management can identify which employees were on duty and address this issue directly.
Review Title: Extremely Poor Service and Unsanitary Food Handling at South Lake McDonald’s
I had a very disappointing experience at this McDonald’s on Monday, October 27, around 10am. You would expect better service from a location in South Lake, but this one was by far the worst I’ve visited.
When I went to the counter to ask a few simple questions about the breakfast menu and condiments, there was no one consistently attending the cashier area. Several employees were visible in the kitchen, but they were lingering, chatting leisurely among themselves, and ignoring customers waiting for help.
One short, fat, brown employee wearing glasses(no name tag on her), who was working near the front counter, repeatedly shouted, “Use the kiosk!” instead of offering any assistance or explanation or courtesy.
When I finally received my breakfast, it was cold and open inside the bag, which raised serious concerns about hygiene and food safety. I have no idea how my food was handled in the back, but this kind of presentation is completely unacceptable.
When I asked to speak with a manager, several employees claimed they were ALL “the manager,” which was confusing and unprofessional. It seemed like no one wanted to take responsibility for the situation. On top of that, when I requested an extra condiment, the same employee argued that she had already given me some instead of simply helping.
None of the employees were wearing name tags, even though McDonald’s policy requires them. This made it impossible to identify who was responsible for the poor service.
What made the experience even worse was that when I tried to relay my complaint, the staff ridiculed it and made ceaseless excuses, instead of taking it seriously or trying to resolve the issue. That level of disrespect toward customers is completely unacceptable.
This location needs major improvement in customer service, organization, and food handling. I’ve never had such an unpleasant experience at any other McDonald’s.
This location also has a playground, so the kids had fun.
