I’m done with this location. The last three times I’ve been there something was screwed up. Cold fries once. Sweet tea when I ordered UNSWEETENED. Today I had to repeat my order 3 times. Twice at the intercom and once at the window. Still messed it up. Bring on AI.

Walking through the doors of this reimagined McDonald’s feels less like entering a quick-service chain and more like stepping into a modern brasserie that happens to wear golden arches. The lighting is soft yet intentional, illuminating clean lines of polished marble counters and seating upholstered with quiet luxury. Even the faint aroma carries a different timbre—still recognizably McDonald’s, but elevated, curated, and restrained.

The service sets the tone immediately. Instead of hurried exchanges across a counter, I was guided to my table by a host who treated my arrival with the same attentiveness you might expect at a Michelin-starred establishment. Menus, leather-bound with embossed lettering, offered familiar classics written with new gravitas: Angus Quarter Pounder with Artisanal Cheddar, Golden Fries—Triple-Cooked in Sunflower Oil, Hand-Spun Vanilla Bean Shake.

The first bite of the fries was a revelation. Each was crisp, golden, and seasoned with a measured hand—no limp edges, no oil-heavy aftertaste. It was as though McDonald’s had finally unlocked the Platonic ideal of its most iconic side. The burger arrived shortly after, plated with the finesse of a fine dining entrée: brioche bun gently toasted, lettuce stacked like architecture, beef patty cooked to precise juiciness. A drizzle of house-made “special sauce” brought a tangy brightness that danced on the palate rather than overwhelming it.

Perhaps the most surprising triumph was the dessert: the humble McFlurry, here presented in a chilled crystal coupe, folded with shards of Valrhona chocolate and a whisper of espresso powder. What is typically a sugar rush in a paper cup transformed into something layered, nuanced, and worthy of lingering over.

What struck me most, however, was not just the refinement of the food, but the reverence with which the experience was crafted. The staff treated the act of dining—yes, even at McDonald’s—as a ritual of comfort and joy.

In this five-star rendition, McDonald’s becomes not a guilty indulgence, but a celebration of the everyday elevated to the extraordinary. It is proof that even the most familiar flavors, handled with care, can earn a place among fine dining’s pantheon.

I never leave reviews. Over the years McDonald’s has been consistently ok but today I was served a completely inedible cheeseburger. It was cold and the bun was so stale and overcooked that I literally couldn’t bite into it. On top of that I had to pull to the side and wait about 7 minutes for my order to be brought out (I was in the drive through). I won’t ever be returning to this location.

McDonald’s 135th and Quivira

The building presents well externally and internally with the only minus being the common grease track and gum on the side walk.

I had a plain cheese burger – perfect
Well done Fries- perfect , water and apple pie was hot but definitely a bit old.

Staff was friendly.

Good to see the staff cleaning the dining room while I was there.

If the apple pie was fresh and the side walks free of grease and gum this McDonalds could be a solid 5 stars.

I ordered two doubles with no cheese, the burgers came out with cheese so I decided to go back in to have them fix this (didn’t think it would be a big deal) and the customer service I received was a joke. They were incredibly rude, told me I ordered the incorrect way, and placed the blame on me somehow. I know I shouldn’t expect the best when getting McDonald’s but this was remarkably bad.

This is by far the best McDonald’s location in the KC metro area. Dave, the manager goes out of his way to make sure everybody is satisfied. He runs the tightest ship of any of the McDonald’s in town.

Very friendly staff. They were eager to help and kept the line moving. A woman accidentally threw her car keys away and two employees jumped right in and started digging through the trash can with her.

The play area for kids is absolutely wonderful. It seems like it’s kept pretty clean and there was even a woman cleaning it while we were there.

Definitely a good experience, and great place to take little ones to run some energy off if it’s cold or rainy outside.

I purchased two Quarter Pounder Deluxe hamburgers, but neither had lettuce and tomato. I called the national McDonald’s number to complain, and they said they would contact the local restaurant. I have heard nothing from the local restaurant. Attached are photos.
Update on 3-5-24. I posted the above review on Google, and then McDonalds national office called me and offered to send me coupons for 2 free meals. I received the coupons and picked up the two free meals. I am revising my rating upward from two stars to three stars. My Google review was effective in getting a McDonald’s national office’ response, even where my direct phone call to that office appeared not to get a response.
