As I pulled into the parking lot I could see a silver Chevrolet pickup sitting at the end of the drive thru line waiting for their food. After I ordered, paid and pulled up to the window that same truck was still waiting on their food. Cars were coming and going around them.
The girl at the window handed me my drinks and McFlurry. Then she said I would need to park and wait for my food. I would have to go around that same truck that had been sitting there this whole time. I told her I would wait at the window for my food and I wouldn’t be parking. She huffed, slammed the window and I could hear her yelling to someone that I was refusing the park.
Jack, a manager, came to the window to give me my food. After doing so, he asked why I didn’t want to park. I explained that I could see that same truck had been sitting there for 10-15 minutes at this point and I didn’t want to end up in the same position – forgotten about, ice cream melting and waiting on food that would inevitably be cold. He became extremely annoyed, very rude and started raising his voice.
He told me that next time I would have to park, I told him that wouldn’t happen and started driving away.
He kept yelling out the window at me and told me it was part of the job and that I have to park if they tell me to. I told him that his inefficiency and need to keep his cars-per-hour numbers wasn’t my problem and again I started driving away.
Mind you the whole time I’m trying to drive away I and having to try to navigate around that same Chevrolet truck that had been in the drive thru that while time.
He continued yelling at me telling me I have to park and next time I wouldn’t be served. I just went ahead and left at that point.
McDonald’s prices are already getting out of control, the least they could to is get you hot food quickly. If I wanted to sit around and wait for food, I wouldn’t have been in the drive thru. I won’t be visiting this location for a while, there are plenty of other options at this same intersection and more being built.
Jack needs some more training, especially if he’s a manager.
I had previously left a one-star review because I kept having the same issue—when I’d order a six-piece Happy Meal, I’d often end up with only four nuggets. It was frustrating, and while it didn’t happen every time, it happened enough (about 50/50) to be really annoying.
However, I have to give credit where it’s due. After my last bad experience, I called the store and spoke to the manager. They actually listened to my complaint, apologized, and told me to come back and they’d make it right. I returned almost a week later, and they kept their word—my meal was comped, and I really felt like they cared about fixing the issue.
The new management at this location is clearly making a difference. It’s nice to be heard and to see a place actually follow through on making things right. Thank you for turning a frustrating experience into a positive one.
