SAD & BAD Business Practices 101
I placed a mobile order here, paid for in the app. A few days later I noticed the charge for the order was $12 and some change. On the day in question, I ordered a sandwich, hash brown and maybe a coffee, and somehow the order in the app incorrectly shows that I ordered about 3 sandwiches, and a few other items that I would never purchase including frappes and diet drinks etc. I noticed the charge a few days later, I filed a grievance on McDonalds website, and received some bogus message that my case was being routed to the proper department. After not hearing anything for weeks, I called customer service who informed me that I needed to speak with the store directly, because they are a franchise. I reached out the store, spoke with several managers regarding the outstanding charges. They referred me to a woman who was supposed to resolve the issue, I left her several messages to no avail. On the 5th time I reached out she answered, she seemed to not really know how to help with the mystery charges. She said she would reach out to the store manager to see how they could resolve whether refunding or issuing points, coupons or whatever. Its been months, I basically gave up hope that they actually cared, and that I would have this issue resolved. 🙁
Before I go further, let me say clearly: I do not blame the employees. I’ve worked at McDonald’s. I know how little say they have, how little they get paid, and how quickly any pride gets smothered by timers and heat trays. Nobody’s handing out bonuses for making a fresh batch of nuggets. There’s no employee-of-the-month for “gave a damn.”
But today’s food? It hurt my soul. The sandwiches were tough. The meat was brown and dry from sitting way too long. The fries had crossed the point of no return — cold, dry, and limp like they’d just given up. The nuggets were shriveled like they’d seen things. Lettuce was barely visible. It felt like every item was grabbed just to clear the order and move on.
And the worst part? I waited 25 minutes while the drive-thru line stretched out to the road. I was only the second car for most of that time. If you know how store timing works, this felt like a classic case of the team freezing the line just to protect their numbers. Don’t take the next order until this one’s out. Make the stats look good. But at what cost?
If the store can’t handle a large order, I get it. Just say so. I would have happily gone elsewhere instead of blocking the drive-thru and walking away with the saddest holiday feast imaginable.
This location is cheaper than some of the others nearby, but the trade-off is clear. The quality has quietly fallen through the floor. There’s no pride left in the service. No spark. And no reason to come back.
To the owner: I don’t want free food. I don’t want a refund. Honestly, take the money from my order and hand it out to your crew as a little holiday bonus. They need something to feel good about in this system. Because whatever this was today? It didn’t feel like McDonald’s. It felt like giving up.
I ordered a Ranch Snack Wrap with the following customizations:
Extra Roma Tomato (2)
Extra Half Strips (2)
Extra Shredded Cheese
Extra McCrispy Ranch Sauce
Unfortunately, when I received my wrap, it was missing some of the extras I specifically requested and was charged for—particularly the extra strips and shredded cheese. I’ve attached a photo of the item and my receipt for your reference.
I would appreciate it if this issue could be addressed. Whether it be a refund for the extras I paid for but did not receive, or a credit toward a future visit, I kindly ask that you look into this matter.
