I rarely feel the need to leave such a scathing review, but my experience at the Wantagh location was genuinely appalling. From the moment I walked in, it was clear that customer satisfaction is not just a low priority here—it is nonexistent.
Management & Service
The most glaring issue was the behavior of the manager, Sandy. I expected a level of professional leadership, but instead, I was met with extreme rudeness and impatience. She rushed me through the ordering process so aggressively that I felt like an inconvenience rather than a paying customer. It was quite apparent that she had no desire to actually take my order or assist me in any meaningful way. The lack of basic courtesy was shocking; the entire interaction was unprofessional, cold, and dismissive.
Cleanliness & Atmosphere
The physical state of the restaurant was equally disappointing. The facility was not clean, with visible neglect in the dining area. It’s difficult to enjoy a meal—or even feel comfortable ordering one—when the environment feels unkempt and poorly maintained.
Final Verdict
The combination of a hostile management presence and a dirty environment makes this a location to avoid at all costs. The customer service is entirely uncaring and unhelpful.
I will never be back to this location. If you are looking for a quick meal in Wantagh, save yourself the frustration and go literally anywhere else. SMH.

The food here was actually really good, I got a Quarter Pounder with fries and a drink, and everything came out hot, fresh, and perfectly made. No complaints about the food at all. But the staff… yeah, not great. They seemed annoyed and uninterested in helping customers. I asked for ketchup, and the cashier literally just walked away and never came back. It’s pretty clear most of the workers here don’t enjoy their jobs, and it really shows in the service. The restaurant itself was kind of clean but not fully. The bathrooms weren’t kept up well, and there were a bunch of kids running around, yelling, and leaving food everywhere. It didn’t feel like a welcoming place to sit down and eat, more like somewhere you just grab your food and go. Overall, the food was solid, but the service and atmosphere really brought the whole experience down

I’ve been going here for 26 years since I moved to Wantagh. The decline in the service should be studied. First! Please fill all drinks up to the top! Second I don’t understand why my creamy chili sauce wasn’t in the bag when it is supposed to come with my McCripsy Strips. Third the French fries were put in upside down so they were all at the bottom of the bag. When I drove back after sitting down at home ready to eat… the girl was extremely rude and was looking at me like I was some kind of bad person for coming back just for the sauce. I don’t think so! You messed up in return I am coming back to get my sauce. Over the past few years I have been served ice cold coffee that was meant to be hot, melted ice cream, countless times have I had my drink not filled up all the way and many other problems with my orders. Don’t even get me started on how long I have waited on certain days! I’m sick of this location I’m going to Merrick from now on!

So I was finishing up a job and ordered breakfast for pick up. I wasn’t going to get there on time to order at the window. I get there and they ask me for code, I give it and they tell me it’s cancelled because they’re not serving it anymore. Well, obviously that’s why it was placed BEFORE I got there.. what else is the point?? If you know a customer is coming for a meal why would you not put that meal aside for their pick up.. cooked or not? That seems incompetent, and a great way to lose a sale. Oh but not really… since they already took my money for the order they didn’t bother preparing? Said it would be back in 24 hours. 24 hours for a service you didn’t even try to fulfill. Then have the nerve to tell me I can place ANOTHER order.. sure, I’ll pay you twice. That seems legitimate. That doesn’t seem like terrible service at all.

It’s no wonder why this place has three stars….

I just went through the drive-thru and had one of the most frustrating experiences. I ordered a 6-piece Happy Meal and a McChicken. First, they didn’t include the sweet-and-sour sauce that comes with the nuggets. When I opened the box, there was no sauce at all. I asked for it, and the employee handed me one, then tried to charge me 30 cents for a second sauce.

I paid almost $14 for a kids meal and a sandwich, and they’re really nickel-and-diming customers over a single sauce? Ridiculous.

On top of that, they didn’t even give me the chocolate milk that comes with my daughter’s Happy Meal. Everything felt sloppy, careless, and honestly insulting.

Charging extra for sauce when the original sauce wasn’t even provided, AND forgetting items in the bag, is unacceptable. Do better.

Omg ! I had placed a HUGE order in November, 11/05 to be exact and when I got home, 2 bacon cheeseburgers and a 6 piece nuggets were missing along with all the sauces. I then called and Tiffany said she added me to a book and I can swing by anytime and get it. I tried on December 4th, their grill was broken. Today, 01/07, I went and the person who took my order was ok with it, checked the book and told me drive up for it but then, I’m unsure if the female curly hair supervisor is Sandy or what but the supervisor with curly hair WENT OFF ! I heard a staff say Sandy, that’s why I assumed but god knows. She refused to give her name. She said I took too long to go back and was NASTY ! I tried explaining I came but uh the grill wasn’t working but she did not care. My son was also crying in the back. The supervisor REFUSED to give her name saying she isn’t allowed to give her name. No idea why people like this are working around people and food but she needs to be checked. I called the corporate office and complained about her being so nasty. I shouldn’t have but I still bought food and left. NEVER WILL I EVER RETURN TO THIS LOCATION. It’s my fault, they messed up orders multiple times and I never said anything, only once and return like I’m nuts but it won’t happen again.

They are so unbelievably stingy about their sauces, never been to a McDonald’s like it. They refused to give me another syrup without charging me an extra 30¢, after I already paid with the app and bought two McGriddles for two separate people. The app literally says that syrup packets are free. No wonder this McDonald’s is rated so poorly.

I have never had such great service in my life like I had at this McDonald’s..Mike was such a gentleman and Absolute the best.. The service was impeccable and the food was fresh and HOT… the best ever.. I was hand SERVED my food after washing up. I was so impressed.. Definitely will go back…Thank you so much. Probably a manager because she’s in a manager’s shirt top. Extremely nasty.
The prices have been going up steadily the last few months so I don’t feel inappropriate asking for a little extra salt. They give 3 small packets for an entire meal for 2 people..
I asked for a little and this miserable young woman barks out .. “THAT’S ENOUGH !!!”

11/11/25. Just Go to Chik Fillet or Wendy’s up the block where the food is served HOT not Cold and the service is way better.
If this is how McDonald’s chooses and hires their managers, maybe we should spend our money elsewhere.
