I used the McDonald’s app, pulled up my code, and your worker accepted it. Then, your system experienced an error, and instead of honoring the promotion or having a manager override it (as any competent team would), I was told they wouldn’t continue doing so because it was clearly an app issue. As if I, the customer, were somehow responsible for McDonald’s digital failures.
Let me be very clear:
If your corporation pushes an app, encourages its use, and runs promotions through it, then it is absolutely your responsibility to make sure your stores honor it, not mine to suffer because your staff can’t be bothered to help.
The worker I dealt with was dismissive, unprofessional, and made it abundantly obvious she had zero interest in resolving anything. She essentially told me they wouldn’t get their money if they honored the code, which is not only inappropriate to say to a customer, but also completely absurd. Your internal reimbursement process is not my problem, and I shouldn’t be punished for using your official, up-to-date app exactly as intended.
I left without the drink I came for and with the impression that this location simply does not care about customer experience, consistency, or basic problem-solving. If this is the standard you’re comfortable with, it’s embarrassing.
I expect this incident to be addressed, and I genuinely hope the staff receives training on how to actually assist customers instead of pushing them out the door over an issue that was entirely on your end.

It’s unfortunate because the day and evening staff are so friendly, but due to the attitude of the night staff, I will take my business elsewhere.
The manager came to the window, but instead of helping, she simply asked, “How may I help you?” and then repeated that there was nothing she could do since the order was through the app. This meant I was left without my food and with no money available to re-order, as my original payment is still pending with no way to cancel or request a refund in the app.
This was supposed to be dinner for my children, and instead I was left without food and without funds. The lack of accountability and customer service was extremely disappointing. To be told to pay twice for the same order, and then be dismissed by management, is unacceptable.
I will not be returning to this location, and I will be sure to share this experience with others as an example of how poorly customers are being treated.
