What the restaurant might lack in ambience is made up for by an increasingly rare commodity in Chicagoland: Bohemian food. There used to be dozens of good Bohemian restaurants in this area. Now you can count them on one hand. The portions were huge and the kolacky were especially tasty. Whether duck or pork or something else, it brought back nostalgia for the homeland of my ancestors.

The food was absolutely outstanding! I had the duck and pork dish with dumplings, and every bite was perfection. The hospitality was beyond amazing—truly the kind of service every restaurant should strive for. The staff made me feel like part of the family, which made the whole experience even better. The prices were also very affordable.
The duck, in particular, deserves special mention. It was cooked to absolute perfection—tender, flavorful, and unforgettable. I love ordering duck whenever it’s on the menu, and I’ve paid twice as much for it at other places, yet it never came close to how good this was. This dish alone was worth the visit, and paired with the warmth of the staff, it created an experience I’ll never forget.

Crowded restaurant at the back of a bar ( where live music will play later). Weird setting, but I like the crowded restaurant atmosphere and the food was good.
I had roastn duck which looked introduced to me, but to my surprise was very good (moist)– not dry at all.
Dumplings are great. These were the fluffiest I’ve ever had, though I don’t particularlook for that when I judge dumplings. Gravy was really good.
I love liver dumpling soup. This was good, but I prefer liver dumpling made from chicken livers and more of a lighter broth. Maybe other Czech places use chicken broth?

Food was great, nice and attentive service, and you get a whole bunch of food! For I instance, with your dinner, you get rye bread, soup or salad, 2 sides, coffee, and dessert…all included. Great quality salad with olives! Plus the portions are huge and so you can have two days worth of it. The coffee was excellent! We’re coming back!

Food is quite good, gravy is 10/10. noodle soup was good. however their menu needs updated to show accurate side and drink options. As is became confusing at a couple points during the ordering process.
desserts are not made in house and left the server and kitchen staff unaware of contents making nothing for dessert allergy safe as there was no available ingredient/allergen list. Which was really unfortunate as I was excited to try some of the options.
I will say atmosphere was a deterrent. ducttape hanging from loose fairy lights from holidays long past, dusty curtains & a potent smell of mildew walking in the side door was a very unfortunate stage setting for the diner. as I repeat the food is good. Just the place would heavily benefit from some extra tlc. It gave the vibe of “has enough regulars and new customers aren’t necessary” which isn’t always the best.
(Went for early diner so maybe just caught an odd time)

Great authentic Czech food with homie atmosphere. Service was great, beer was great, food was great, this place reminded me of family owned restaurants I’d go to in the 90s and early 2000s, which I don’t really see anymore.
Will definitely go there again!

Great food! Had the Czech platter which is roast duck, a breaded pork tenderloin, and smoked butt. Comes with two sides and soup or salad. The goulash was amazing and so was dessert. I will definitely come back

Old school joint that still believes in quality, homemade meals at affordable prices! The food was unbelievably good. It reminded me of my Bohemian Grandma’s cooking. Fresh, true to the old world tradition and delicious. Portions were generous. Worth the trip!

This was my first time dining here and I ate at the bar. It’s a Polish-Bohemian style restaurant. It’s pretty old school with a vast selection of Polish dishes. The bartender was friendly but I wouldn’t recommend getting a martini here, and there are no blue cheese stuffed olives. I really liked the fried cauliflower app and the beef noodle soup. The baked halibut I ordered was on special and it was decent but a little too greasy. My SO liked his breaded pork tenderloin. It looked like there were several regulars sitting at the bar as the bartender seemed to know them. This is a good neighborhood place if you are in the mood for Polish food. It just wasn’t my fave.
