Sat in bar area but not at bar
Our server took pride in her position, was positive and upbeat- other than a quick slip of a swear word from which she quickly recovered after seeing the reaction of someone in our party, she was quite good. She checked on us and made us feel welcome in the nearly empty restaurant.
Mc Carthy’s has a dark, cozy, pub like atmosphere. The booth was comfortable for our plus size dining companion. Our drinks were good. There are some fun things to do- pool table and an arcade machine. No pinball- not that they need that but I love a good pinball machine!
Televisions in bar area had Olympics and some weird crime.shpw with graphic re-enactments on. I noticed the latter at the end of our meal, so it wasn’t worth mentioning to our server.
Table chips- cute idea instead of bread , dark, kettle style salted potato chips
Burger- seasoned well, plain bun, cooked to perfect medium- no standard toppings came with it
Fries- frozen, battered fries- meh
Calamari- same as the fries, pre breaded, frozen, rounds only, marinara that came with it was thin and not flavorful
Wings- garlic parm, steamed/boiled then fried, off texture and flavor compared to just fried/baked wings, sauce for them tasted like it was from a jar or semi homemade
Manhattan clam chowder- almost too salty but filled with clams, potatoes were cooked perfectly, the broth had a similar texture to the tomato sauce for the Calamari and not as brothy as typical
This place is probably fun and lively in the good weather. They have a nice outdoor space for a band and tables and large indoor dining area.
We’d give this Carmel institution another try maybe on a weekend. It has a lot of potential!

This is a great little restaurant/bar. Staff is very friendly, and food is above and beyond all expectations. Try the soup. Highly recommend!

A very nice place to recommend. Food was served by a friendly waitress. Every dish was well presented and tasted good. It wasn’t crowded so we had lot of privacy and could enjoy taking picture outside too. There was a party going on indoors. So the crowds were all in the party hall. Not sure how it could be when crowded but we enjoyed the ambience..

I think i was expecting more of a homey vibe both in a restaurant as well as in food taste. Overall ok, but nothing thrilling. Regular cheeseburger had just meet and cheese (no onion no tomato no lettuce, weird?). Nothing very homemade, really.
Do not come with a dog- not allowed inside, outside inly one table on the dirt spot, chairs dusty not wiped. Waitress very junior.
Such places i call them ‘too far too close’. Too far from the city to hold city standards (although prices like in the city) – too close to have the country vibe and taste.

Excellent Irish fare at very reasonable prices. Helpful manager who delayed the food’s service due to us being slightly behind schedule. Full bar with several beers on tap. Spacious area for cocktailing or conferencing. Clean bathrooms and friendly waitstaff. Parking ample but a little tricky as it is all on an incline. After his historic run for NY Governor, Larry Sharpe appeared here on August 17th, 2019.

Nice place. I Googled outdoor dining near me” and found this place. Here are some pictures of the outdoor area. It was a beautiful sunny day. They had a really good BBQ pulled pork on a pretzel bun. They make you sanitize when you come in which seems scared but the staff was friendly.

Solid Irish fare with tender loving care! About five beers on tap and cocktails from the full bar. Al fresco dining out back. Friendly though undermanned waitstaff. Clean bathrooms. Parking tight along the side on the incline. Fair prices and exquisite catering available. On August 17th, 2019 Larry Sharpe appeared here during his second FullSharpe tour.

We had an excellent experience at McCarthy’s Grill. Our group had rented the back room, which was excellent for a private gathering, and then some of us stayed later for dinner. The Sunday dinner special was very reasonably priced and quite tasty. The service was excellent, with the staff going above and beyond. There was plenty of parking, even for a large gathering. Our only complaint was that the building could use a bit of maintenance, nothing which hindered the experience or impacted the quality of the food/service. I highly recommend.

I have had three parties here, my bridal shower, baby shower & now my daughters baptism reception. The food is absolutely delicious! My family always talk about the potato croquettes. The waitstaff was awesome and always came around to make sure if you needed anything. Annie went above & beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. She made sure my guests were comfortable and their bellies were full ! And a special shoutout to Alyssa who we had today. Alyssa was so pleasant & helpful, she made everything go so much smoother for me! Also, thank you Ronnie who greeted us with a big smile nice and early so we could set up before and Gina for the awesome drinks ! Thank you McCarthy family for everything today.
