My wife loves the spuds! Their giant loaded baked potatoes are legendary—practically the size of a football and topped to perfection. Personally, I like to get the McAlister’s Club. It is a classic for a reason. Fresh ingredients, perfect layering, and always consistent. I usually add a cup of soup too! I also recommend the Italian, Cuban, and grilled chicken club sandwich sandwiches. Today I decided to get the four cheese melt and macaroni and cheese. Fantastic!
Just a quick word about the Mac &Cheese… If you’re a fan of comfort food, the Mac & Cheese at McAlister’s Deli is definitely worth a look. It’s known for being one of the creamiest sides on the menu, steering clear of the “stiff” or “baked” style you find at some other delis. Unlike a traditional baked mac with a crust, this is a velvety, “liquid gold” style that holds its heat well. It’s a three-cheese blend consisting of Cheddar, American, and Neufchatel (which is similar to cream cheese). The Neufchatel is the “secret weapon”—it gives the sauce a slightly tangy, ultra-creamy consistency that sets it apart from standard yellow mac. You can order it as a standalone side (Regular 4oz or Large 8oz) or as a “Side Kick” with your sandwich or spud.
You cannot leave without grabbing their a tea or lemonade. It is the ultimate thirst-quencher—perfectly tart, just the right amount of sweet, and packed with real fruit flavor. It’s basically sunshine in a glass and pairs perfectly with a salty side of chips. If you’re a fan of their famous Sweet Tea, try a “half and half” mix with the strawberry lemonade for a fruity twist on an Arnold Palmer. That’s my jam! I really wish we had a McAllister’s deli in Foley, Alabama.
I normally do pickup but I didn’t feel well and ordered uber eats and I recieved an order that was so bad. I called the manager as I still didn’t want to be rude at all as I let her know I got everything refunded from uber so it was already taken care of when I called, but I feel like the lack of quality control is the reason I felt the need to post this and let her know. She was understanding and listened and said she was sorry about the experience which I totally appreciated her professionalism as again I was just wanting them to note this to the kitchen to double check what’s going wrong.
First, I ordered a bbq baked potato that comes with Mac and cheese, green onions, meat sour cream butter etc. I recieved only a plain super dry and overcooked potato with just shredded cheese and sauce only that’s it, nothing else in it at all 🙁
Ordered a cheese cake and that was completely missing with no notification or option to swap.
The nachos were terribly terribly stale, like the chips not exaggerating were badly need to throw away worthy stale. I was kinda shocked how bad the chips were because they were so stale it was inedible.
Then to top it off, my husband shows me his sandwich which I took a photo of that has an entire piece, not a tiny piece, not a shred, an entire palm size piece of WAX PAPER COOKED into the sandwich in the cheese. If one of these things happened, it would be a mistake. Every item though, that’s neglect.
Gosh I feel bad because I’m not even one to want to complain about my food necessarily and didn’t want to make it seem like a huge deal but goodness, this was actually the worst order experience I’ve ever had with food quality which is shocking for McCallisters who used to be one of my favorite lunch spots in town. The last few experiences I’ve had weren’t the best, but I’ve never had to complain or get a refund. Unfortunately with the quality going down the past few times, with this being the worst, I don’t think I’ll order from here anymore. The food quality is just really poor now which makes me saddd 🙁
My company orders lunch from here at least 3 times a month and we are never disappointed
Keep up the great work!
