Came here for Valentine’s Day, the last one before our first child comes. I could eat Afghan food everyday. However, the food at Mazar is the best Afghan food we’ve had in a long time. The lamb shank just falls right off the bone and the kababs are super juicy. The traditional ice cream is a must to order, as it very lightly sweet. I tried bolani for the first time and it was very good. The family who owns the restaurant was so hospitable. We’re definitely going to come back here.

Amazing food with amazing quality alongside a welcoming ambiance full of culture and heritage. Hands down, some of the best Afghani food I have had. The appetizers were delicious and the entrees were cooked perfectly, juicy and full of flavor. The hostess was so sweet as well and offered excellent hospitality. I had to bring some food home for my family to try. Will definitely be coming back!!

I booked the space for a small celebration for my nikkah, and it was absolutely fantastic! The food was delicious, as expected, but the highlight was the incredible experience with the family. They were extremely respectful, loving, and helpful, making everything so easy. The owner’s daughter even crafted a custom stage with a design of our choice, which was stunning. The service throughout the entire celebration was immaculate. Thank you for making our special night truly unforgettable. I would highly recommend this venue to anyone and will definitely return next time!

This place is now one of my favorite restaurants! The food was incredibly fresh, flavorful, and just downright delicious. The entire space was clean, and their attention to detail was evident everywhere, from the beautifully maintained flowers outside to the spotless bathrooms. The service was warm, attentive, and genuinely kind, making the experience even better. I have zero complaints and can’t wait to come back!

Went there for my anniversary dinner with the family. Great place for dinning with family and the decor is nice and restaurant is clean. The food is very good, its one of the best afghan food i’ve ever tried. The only reason I had to give 4 start is because of the service. We were the only table dinning at the restaurant and I was disappointed with their service. They took a long time serving water and soda even after the food was served. but apart from that top quality food. I will return to the restaurant for the food.

This is what i paid $22 for. They should be ashamed of the serving size! There are way better afghan/Mediterranean food places around that serve quality with quantity! Don’t waste your money on a whole bunch of dry rice and 4 small pieces of chicken. What a scam!

Looking for new places to try, we choose Sami’s. As the Astoria location was closed, we drove all the way to the Glen Cove one. The place looked like it didn’t belong in New York, but in Miami with trees and dim lit lights. The interior has a modern vibe, with decorative pictures, and bright recess lights. The staff were very helpful and hospitable. We ordered for takeout as they were closing up, but they still gave us green tea and firnee (dessert on the house) while we waited for our food.
The food was delicious! However, the portions were small. The uzbeki palaw comes with carrots only. I was anticipating both carrots and raisins but perhaps some places don’t include raisins. The lamb chops entree comes with 4 pieces of lamb chops. I’d recommend the combo platter to get a taste of all meats! The sauces were ample and tasted great.
The firnee and shir birinj were delicious as well. They were nice and soft–neither hard nor overly sweet. It was perfect!
They also had some bottled white sauce for sale ($5 a bottle). If you want some extra white sauce to go, you know what to do!
