The most delicious tacos I’ve had in Hawaii, period. I had one chicken taco and one steak taco. Both tacos came with homemade pico and homemade guacamole, and all the salsas at the open salsa bar are also homemade. You add your own cilantro, onions, salsa, hot sauce, and lemon or lime—everything is there. You can really taste the authentic Mexican flavor that you’re not going to get at some of these other fancy restaurants. I’ve honestly enjoyed these two tacos more than many fine-dining places I’ve eaten at here. I wouldn’t call them childhood memories since I didn’t grow up in Mexico, but they remind me of happy memories from time spent in Mexico. It’s a small food truck in a parking lot, a one-person operation, cash only, $5 per taco. There’s one table with five chairs, and napkins and plastic forks are self-serve. If you want truly delicious, street-style Mexican food, I can’t think of another place in Hawaii that comes close to these tacos. 6pm-11pm Tue Fri Sat. Cash only. BYOB.

Highly recommended food truck.
No fancy gimmicks it’s all about the food.
One of the best tacos in town, authentic flavors. Home made Salas, sauces and a lot of variety of sources as well. Amazing flavors.
One man show making the tacos.
I would recommend some small barrels or stand up tables to accommodate more customers.

Mayitas hooked us up late night with a stacked birria quesadilla when we accidentally didn’t bring enough cash to get 2 (bring cash).
It was crispy, cheesy and delicious with the salsa.

Love he does a salsa bar right there as well.

Recommend and will be back

Located in the parking lot outside Lucky Seven Liquors at 435 Atkinson Drive. Scheduled hours are from 6:00pm to 11:00pm on Tuesday, Friday and Saturday.

Always a pleasure to sample something from the menu. I try not to have the same thing every time.

If possible, he appreciates it when you pay with $1 bills because he sometimes runs out when people pay with 10s or 20s.

We were staying at The Ala Moana Hotel across the road and spotted this little, tiny food trailer from our balcony. A bit of late night curiosity (and hunger) had us wondering down to check it out.

These were the most amazing tacos we have had in our lives! The flavours were spot on and the ingredients FRESH!
We were in Hawaii for 72 hours prior to a Transpacific Cruise and this was the BEST food in terms of Quality, Taste and Price while we were there!

I really enjoyed this little stand located next to Ala Moana hotel! Just a guy making great tacos and burritos

Update 8/2025:

I enjoyed it! This little hole-in-the-wall lunch wagon has a simple menu but offers quality food! Don’t expect a giant-sized like chipotle! It was nicely crisped and a filling! Also has a variety of salsa and sauces available

Solid Mexican food. I’ve had a fair share of Mexican food including street food in Mexico city. Mayita’s grill makes great Mexican dishes and Birria Quesadilla I ordered was delicious. I would recommend take out as the area where this is situated (it’s just a small kitchen attached to a pickup truck) can be a bit sketchy, especially after sunset.

Good tacos, tostada, and Quesadilla. Add you own toppings of salsas, onions, cilantro, and peppers with choices of hot sauces.

I cannot recommend this place enough! Locals and tourists alike should definitely come and give this place a try. You can’t go wrong whether you get the tacos, burritos, or quesadillas. My personal favourite is the birria quesadilla, and I can’t get enough of the homemade salsa!

Note: cash only (ATM in the convenience store and Ala Moana Hotel) and he’s only there a few nights a week (currently Tuesday, Friday and Saturday).
