To share a “Northern Michigan” experience–We have had a little bit of snow lately, my car does NOT have 4-wheel drive. The attendant at Mayfield Country Store helped my husband and I out of their parking lot over the course of about 30 mins of trying. Much appreciated! We are locals and never have anything other than nice encounters with the “new” (has been a couple of years) owners.

Used to love this place. Ordered a pizza on my last visit, and when I went to pick it up, I was surprised that the workers weren’t the usual sweet older folks behind the counter, but a couple of guys speaking a foreign language to one another and barely acknowledging that I was there. Took the pizza home, only to discover it was a size smaller than I ordered (but still in a larger box) and not nearly as good as it used to be. I didn’t bother complaining, woulda got me nowhere. I highly recommend getting lunch or dinner somewhere else, like A. Papanos in Kingsley. This place sucks now.

New owners are running this place right into the ground. Jack all prices up and turning the store into a liquor store. Food portions are even smaller and poorly made now. Sad to see this place is not what it used to be. Also noticed most former employees got let go. No more fishing supplies. Store only has a 4.6 rating because of what this place used to be. Do not recommend

We stop here at least once every few weeks! The staff is very friendly! A few weeks ago, we had order 3 gyros and I was told it would be about 15-20 mins, got there to pick up at the 20 min mark & was told it would be another 15 mins. I was asked if I still wanted the food and I said absolutely, it is so delicious it was worth the wait just wished I had been told a better time and said I would wait in my car and come back in, in just a bit. I had no problem waiting. A little while had passed and the owner came out with the bag of food – I told her I had to pay still & she said dinner was on her, that she apologized for the wait and to please come back! I was stunned and told her I insisted on paying – she just smiled and told us to enjoy! I cried the whole way home, she really has no clue how much that meant – kindness goes along way! Thank you SO much!

What a dive! They charge you to use your cc. 3.5% don’t order anything from there unless you have all day to wait on your order. I ordered pizza. They said 20 min. Was there 20 min later. Pizza wasn’t even started yet. Lady at counter was rude. Would never go there again.

Edit.. food has went down hill miss the old owners. Will not order anymore. Love eating from Mayfield store. Always delicious. Would get five starts if they deep fried the Fry’s, rings and mushrooms. Not just out the oven. Other than that it’s great!
