The cook seems to have an attitude every time we come in. Today he was doing construction out of the back of a truck. He came in to cook food for several patrons. He didn’t wash his hands. He barely wiped them off on a dish cloth. I’m sure there is a restaurant policy by the state that says staff should have to wash their hands thoroughly with soap and water before returning to work especially cooking food. The waitress is delightful.

Tried it once and thought the food was pretty good. However, when we substituted one type of gravy for another the waitress had no problem and never said it could not be done. But when the cook got the order, you could hear him complaining and saying negative stuff about having to modify the order. I can understand that as a cook having to change up what is already on the menu is not something they don’t want to do, but if that is the case, then it should be listed on the menu no substitutions and then it would be clearly visible for all to see. Even if they don’t have that on the menu then they can upcharge and that we didn’t mind. But no, he had to throw a fit and it could be heard by us. We stayed and let it go as the waitress was amazing. Tried again today and will never be back. This time he was saying our order out loud before he started to fix it and said what’s this chipped beef gravy order and the waitress was busy waiting on a customer and when she went to tell him what it was and like he couldn’t read how it was written, I heard him say I’m tired of this shit! We substituted sausage gravy for chipped beef gravy and that was a huge deal. He had already started slinging egg shells on the floor and the poor waitress had to work with his horrible attitude. I told the waitress to tell him not to make our food we would just pay for our drinks. I think he even charged us 4$ more as the drinks should of only been $5 and the total was $8. Anyways we paid it and tipped our waitress for having to put up with his horrible attitude. If you don’t like your job, then don’t come to work. You are creating a hostile work environment for your workers and I actually feel sorry for the waitresses that have to work with you. I’m sure they could find better and without the attitude. You lost business with us. There is always a better place. The Old Oak Cafe is better and will get our business from now on!

This was a real treat when we were in Moneta for Valentine’s day. The Sheriff Andy breakfast was amazing. The eggs cooked perfectly the biscuits ans gravy were so tasty. We definitely will be back. The portions was a good size as well for the price.

The only complaint I have is that they only stay open until 2pm. Our waitress was very delightful. There isn’t many places in our many travels that know how to do a proper over medium egg… They got it right here!

I want to preface this by saying this is a review of the TWO young ladies working this Sunday morning (10/12/25) You two did an amazing job with what you were given. 1 waitress and 1 cook for a Sunday morning at the only breakfast place in a 15 minute drive minimum is insane.
To the owner: these two young ladies were drowning in orders. The CUSTOMERS had to help them prepare their own food, bus tables, do everything just so the 2 ladies could ATTEMPT to keep up. Im not sure who or where the owner is but they need to seriously rethink their business ventures if they are going to leave two employees on a Sunday morning to fend for themselves and be stuck in the weeds. Give them a raise, tell them you appreciate them or another restaurant owner will see this happen to them and offer them a better job.

First and last time here. I’m confused as to why anyone would want to come back here. Service was very slow and it’s off season. Food was subpar, sweet tea I had to send back. For a small restaurant I felt very unattended to. The girls were nice enough, but as a 30+ yr server…it was embarrassing. The people next to us waited forever, and then their breakfast ended up on the floor. Not sure if this is family run, but maybe get some servers who have experience and a personality.. and the surcharge is ridiculous. I wish there were better options in this area.

Overall the food was pretty good, my son was served regular pancakes instead of chocolate chip as he had ordered. The restrooms were decently clean in the atmosphere was okay. Overall we will be back

So glad we chose this place for breakfast. Great service. Quick and the food was fantastic. The pancake had such great flavor. The sausage gravy was extra good. Lots of cute signs all around to read.
We will come back.

So folks, this review is actually for the Moneta Pizza shop that is attached to the diner. Their page just isn’t up on Google yet.
I got the best calzone in the area there today. TJ, the manager was there and he took pride in his craft! This is what we need out of the businesses around here, pride in their craft!
Delicious calzone!
