I’m glad there is at least one place in Reno-Sparks that makes a reasonably well attempt at offering true South Indian vegetarian cuisine.

The dosa was good, but could be improved upon. Size should be bigger and the crepe should be thinner and crisper.

Sambhar and chutneys were good. Idly was light and airy.

Poori was good and not too greasy. The potato bhaji was too mushy and not as traditionally flavored as I would like.

Service was friendly and efficient.

A newbie to South Indian food, and loved it! I wasn’t sure what to order, so I just took a chance and it was delicious. They had a choice of several beers as well, and coffee to perfection. Definitely will go back!

Maya’s South Indian Is a vegetarian restaurant serving not surprisingly South Indian cuisine. The staff here is super friendly and the service was as good as it gets. The chutney was superb. Their signature dish is the medu vada. Medu vada is sort of an Indian donut and naturally gluten-free. I think I could live off of these. Overall truly a great dining experience.

Found this place by accident, but was a blessing in disguise. The food was amazing and the staff was very friendly and helpful. They have limited items on the menu but each one of it is very tasty and flavorful. Their chutneys were very authentic and fresh. Also tried some dink made with jaggery.

Big fan of this place and more importantly, the food. It is usually about 15 – 20 mins but that is because most of the food is prepared to order which is the only way to have South Indian food. Oh and most items are vegan, yeah, that works for me. The staff (usually the owner) will walk you through any of the items and preparation so you know what to expect and also work through any specific dietary requirements. Highly recommend this spot!

Decided to try this place because I’d seen beautiful pics of their food on IG. Went in on a Sunday afternoon. Ordered a potato curry dish for $14. Honestly, I’ve had better. Curry was very spicy but lacked the flavors of the Indian cuisine I’m used to. Potatoes were mushy & and the dish itself had a mashed potato consistency. I feel like it was leftovers from a previous day that was warmed up but I can’t say that for sure. The bread that was served with the dish was oily & a bit undercooked. I was disappointed with my first visit here & probably will not be returning.

Review: Dinner was great, they ran out of food though & only had rice dishes. Still, really enjoyed tiger food & would come back again.

Perfect breakfast/brunch in Reno for a vegetarian! This family operated restaurant is inside the Thali Vegetarian restaurant.

Idli (fresh steamed rice dumplings), sambar (mild soup to go with the idli), methu vada (lightly spicy deep fried Indian donuts), and Dosa (South Indian crepe) are the standard rate, along with traffic was and coffee.

Traditional South Indian Cuisine!! Tastes the same like the one’s you get from the local. Much better actually than the regular restaurants.

Would give them more stars if I could. Superb, delicious food. We tried a combo and 2 separate items on the menu. In effect I think we tasted the whole menu. We are from Bay Area and have multiple options here for South Indian food. But i must say I liked this restaurant better than most other South Indian restaurants from Bay Area! Dosa was so soft and spongy. Puri bhaji was good. Idli and medhu vada were amazingly fresh and fluffy. Medhu vada didn’t have Capricorns, which is very rare to find. Price is high for a self order restaurant but I felt it rightly justifies the taste.
