I knew when I heard that this place is owned by the same people that run Ixtapalapa Taqueria, the food would be great and I wasn’t disappointed.

We tried a lot of the items on the menu and there were no misses, everything was good or great. We loved the al pastor tacos the best, but the chicken tinga and carne asada were solid as well. Loved their chilango burger with grilled pineapple and caramelized onion, just incredible flavor. Also their chili nachos were epic, and the mole and verde tamales were both excellent. Also enjoyed the crab gorditas.

Cocktails were way too sweet, but they had the right idea in terms of recipes. They also have a modest but good tequila selection.

Place is very spacious with a big restaurant side with booths and tables, and a bar side with some high top tables and bar counter seating. A few friends and I went where on a Thursday night and it was fairly empty but we had a great time.

This place was on my list to try since they opened. I remember the location back when it was Growlers and wow, did MM bring an update! Beautiful interior, trendy decor, very comfortable bar.

Loved their beers. They had some adventurous off-the-beaten path brews like Freshly Foraged lager made with Spicebush (yum). Skip the mixed drinks. They were tasting watered down.

The food is mostly very yummy. Tamale Verde is fire. Enjoyed everything about it.

Carne asada taco came with ample helping of steak but I could do with either more seasoning in the meat or some kind of marinade.

Chicken Mole has a very rich flavor, very winter spice forward. The chicken was a bit dry though and proportion of masa to filling was not as good as verde. Glad to try the bold flavor but probably won’t be a repeat.

Service is stellar. Wonderful people. With this said, to one lovely lady behind the bar – please time your recreational activities better. Reeking of pot is a bad form.

Friendly suggestion – make the happy hour options/prices visible please ! We were charged one price for pork tamale and another for chicken. No idea why.

All and all, very much recommend. I’ll be back to try more yummy food and update !

WOW! Just ordered like 6 plates of food and all of them were a 10/10—- tried out the Asada tacos, the Chayote Tacos, the Rajas Tamales, chips and Salsa, and the Taquitos de Papas—- everything was delicious and amazing. Also tried two of the beers both really good but I forget the names of them.
The service was fast and the staff was very nice and attentive, i have no idea why this place is not packed because its a hidden gem!!!

My family and I went for lunch and decided to try a little bit of everything. The chips were delicious with a bit of lime and tajin on them. I really enjoyed the Mexican street corn. It would be nice if it came in a cup because it can be a bit messy. My family really enjoyed the nachos. The tacos were so good and very filling too. My margarita was fine, a little too tart for my taste but you can tell it’s made with fresh ingredients.
Everyone was really happy with the meal and we can’t wait to come back!

“30 years ago I used to run up and down those stairs all service.”

Haven’t visited since the Days of Old Towne Tavern. Place looks pretty similar to the last time I was there.

Please is clean and well lit. Stopped in on Sunday to check it out. Quickly sat and greeted. Tried the house beers (I never drank a single beer from the Tavern when I worked there.) and while I am not a big fan of beer. The ones I had were pretty good. I prefered the margarita.

Nachos were a hit and the desert was enjoyed.

Would definitely come back and will make that happen soon.

(Had to run up to the 3rd floor. I was always assigned to work on the third floor all weekend. Should probably check this place out when they have music.)

Just found Mayan Monkey Brewing Co, and it is absolutely one of my favorite places to go! The brewery/restaurant is beautiful, and the bar area is equally phenomenal! They have a superb selection of beers (house made and otherwise), great cocktails, and the food is out of this world amazing! The bartenders are very nice and equally attentive! The prices (both food & drinks) are super reasonable! This is an all around great place, and it will easily become a go to once you check them out!

Fantastic stop for lunch. We enjoyed both of the beers we ordered which were produced in house. I hope they start selling cans soon because we would have loved to take some with us for home. The food was excellent and the service was quick and friendly and professional. We sat at the bar which was comfy. Will return when driving through the area again!

We have been going to the sister restaurant Ixtapalapa for many years. Tonight we tried Mayan Monkey and we were thrilled! A different experience – and different food – from Ixtapalapa. But terrific!

This is really good food in a nice clean place. The fries are some of the best I’ve ever had, and I’m not real big on fries, but I ate them all. The burgers are well priced and taste great. Some serious caramelized onions, too. This is a great spot that I look forward to grabbing lunch at again.

New favorite spot for tamales,
Had about 4 different items of their menu and tried 2 different beers. Everything was immaculate, will definitely be back.
