I love love love the Lavender Matcha out of the drinks I tried so far. It adds a light sweetness that compliments and highlights the natural elements of the matcha. Here, the texture of the matcha is so nice and smooth! I have yet to find a place in Oklahoma that makes matcha better than here.
I tried the Strawberry Matcha recently and can speak of it similarly! Although I personally like the Lavender Matcha more, the Strawberry exceeded expectations too. Usually with strawberry-flavored drinks, I tend to think it is too sweet, but this was perfect and not overwhelming at all! The added texture of the strawberry puree was fun and interesting as well!
As for food, I only tried the Bulgogi Kimbap, Gochujang Bowl, and Spicy Tuna Mayo Triangle Kimbap, but all of these are delicious too!
For the Bulgogi Kimbap, I got it with Sriracha Sauce (which did cost a little more with it), but it was a decent kimbap. For me, it is good for a lighter lunch.
The Gochujang Bowl is my favorite in terms of food at May Picnic Table. It is not overly spicy, but has a little kick as well as some sweetness! I enjoy all the textures of the combined ingredients. Overall, it was so tasty and filling!
When I went here with my partner, I tried a few bites of the Spicy Tuna Mayo Triangle Kimbap and that was definitely spicier. It was still good though!
Because of my partner’s dietary restrictions, we wanted to make sure it did not have any gluten before purchasing. The staff were so helpful and attentive during our visit, and we really appreciated it! We were told the Kewpie Mayo they used might have gluten, but my partner has not had an issue with that kind of mayo before thankfully. Even later on, my partner was fine!
We appreciate the heads up from Alice and another employee that was there at the time! They were awesome! While I enjoyed my matcha, my partner could enjoy something to eat. I always look forward to the next time I visit!
The inside is so clean, and there are various kinds of seating. The place is well decorated and the music adds to the experience but is just the right volume. It is so cute and relaxing!
The triangle kimbap were amazing and I need to go back for more. The bulgogi kimbap was good but I should have gotten a different sauce with it. Thats totally on me.
The egg sandwich was good but the strawberry jam is an interesting choice. I probably won’t have it again but it was I wanted to try it since it sounded so different.
Now the matcha…..that is the best damn matcha I have ever had and I NEED to go back. I am dreaming of it. Iblive 45 minutes away but my food motivation is just high enough to make me drive there just to double fist some matcha again.
side note: the peach green tea is VERY good
The egg sandwich is perfectly fluffy and the strawberry jam compliments it perfectly.
The tofu pockets come in a variety of flavors that are all delicious, and you get to try them all with your order!
The tteokboki was too sweet for my liking and not spicy at all, which makes it palatable for those who might be sensitive to spice. It came with a good mix of fish cakes and tteok.
The service was pretty slow. We all ordered separately, however we didn’t make our orders that far apart from one another. It was awkward to have a dish be finished while another friend’s food became ready.
I looked at the bulgolgi kimbap my husband ordered and it didn’t look appetizing. He said it was bland, and I asked if the seaweed wrap was coated in sesame oil, he said no.
It was a disappointing experience, but it had very cute decor. The matcha is thick and comes through the milk + any added flavoring, which creates a nice balance without making the drink too sweet. However for the price, it’s unlikely we’ll come back again which is a bummer because I love kimbap.
Kimbap and triangle kimbap are good.
They have packaged ramen for $7, which is insane. They do have a menu you can order from, if you don’t want just kimbap.
Didn’t get to try a drink this time. Although, my friend did and the price rung up is different than on the menu.
The most talked about is the egg sandwich. You can most definitely taste the jam and the cheese. I didn’t hate it but I also didn’t love it.
It’s almost 40 minutes from me, so it’s just not worth the drive.
