Delicious food, top notch service. We loved everything we tried. Especially the elk tenderloin and the sweet potato bisque. Great environment and ambiance for celebrating a special occasion. Recommend making a reservation ahead of time, especially on weekends. We will definitely be back!

I was honestly very underwhelmed by the food and service at Maxwell’s. We came here for my mom’s 60th birthday and were seated right by the door. The table was very large and it felt like we had to yell across the table for the others to hear us. I asked about safety for Celiac and they assured me that the kitchen was knowledgeable, however I was served gluten and not the substitute that I ordered. The group came to a general consensus that the food was 3/5. Some of the food was luke warm and I feel that the prices did not match the quality. There are much better fine dining options in the FM area!

My boyfriend brought me to Maxwell’s to celebrate my birthday on 8/12. Our server was amazing! She was super personable, provided awesome recommendations (as we’re not from the area), and made the evening extra special.

The food and drinks were delicious. The macadamia nut crusted Chilean sea bass was perfectly cooked. The lobster risotto with it was creamy and also cooked to perfection. We highly recommend the chocolate lava cake with vanilla bean ice cream – so good! In addition, the atmosphere was nice.

Thank you for the amazing experience! We can’t wait to come back!

We dined at Maxwells on the recommendation of a close friend, who said that they have not only quality food and service but they will also personalize the experience.

The purpose of our visit was to celebrate our mother’s 70th birthday. When making the reservation this was mentioned and the receptionist said they would have the table decorated and ready for a 70th birthday.

Upon arrival we were set in the back of the restaurant next to the restroom and server hallway with only menus decorating the table. Halfway through the dinner a table next to us arrived also with a birthday and we’re immediately given celebration hats and blowers. We asked for some and were provided them, but this was not our expectation based on the previous conversations with the restaurant.

We ended up spending $400 on a dinner for six that was just fine. We had a tenderloin returned and recooked due to being overcooked on the restaurant and a free dessert for the birthday girl, but the dessert was a small 1 1/2” by 1 1/2” square cake. Other than that everything was cooked well, tasted good, but didn’t Wow. The tres leches cake was probably the star of the night. The whole family felt it was the best item we ate.

Maxwell’s Restaurant Bar and Grill – Fargo, ND

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

My wife and I had a miraculous dining experience at Maxwell’s during our visit to Fargo. We arrived around 9:00 PM, knowing they closed at 10:00, and rushed over hoping to get seated. Despite the late hour, the service was incredibly accommodating.

–Service

Our server Jared was fantastic – friendly, knowledgeable, and very informative about all the entrees we inquired about. The service was quick without feeling rushed, which we really appreciated given the time constraints.

–The Food

**Bison Meatballs (Appetizer)**
Absolutely delicious. A great way to start the meal.

**Elk Tenderloin**
This was my choice, and I was thoroughly impressed. The dish came with sweet potato, broccoli, and an exceptional sauce. I expected the elk to be fairly gamey, but it was cooked just right – very tender and juicy. The presentation and flavor combination were perfect.

**Black Angus Ribeye**
My wife’s selection was equally outstanding. Cooked to perfection with delicious mashed potatoes, broccoli, and sauce. The steak was incredibly juicy, and she savored every bite despite not typically eating large portions. I tried a piece myself, and it was exceptional.

–Value

Some reviewers mention the prices being high, but honestly, the quality of the food makes it absolutely worth the cost. You get what you pay for, and in this case, it’s premium ingredients prepared expertly.

–Final Thoughts

We unfortunately had to skip dessert due to time (closing hour and our drive back to Minot the next day), but we’re already planning our return visit. Next time, we’re definitely staying for dessert!

–Bottom line:

If you’re in Fargo, Maxwell’s is a must-visit. 100% recommended, and we’ll absolutely be back!

We started out with the bison meatballs. The sauce was so savory, and the meatball had so much flavor. It’s such a great combo. We ordered the salmon, the walleye, the veal, and the waygu special. I was able to try all of them and was not disappointed in any of the dishes. Although the salmon was my favorite, with the pesto on top, wow! I should have taken a few more photos. Jen was our waitress. She was amazing! Excellent service, excellent food. Will definitely be back soon!

Rarely do I get the opportunity to say this about a meal, cooked to perfection is the only way I can describe it. The blend of textures and flavours perfectly complementing each other unlike I’ve seen in a long time. Whether celebrating a special occasion, travelling or simply looking for a good bite, look no further; I may have only had the soup and venison but their flawless execution implies that even if the rest of the dishes weren’t as good they’d still be fast above those found elsewhere

Excellent service. Nice atmosphere.
Meat ball and crab cake appetizers very good.
Ribeye and tenderloin steaks were OK, average size and average tender & flavor. Tenderloin was better than the ribeye. Not a fan of the ribeye served on top of potatoes.
Pasta and sauces were OK.
Overall, entrees were cute but a little Spendy for “OK”.
Choc-chip cheese cake very good. Choc-lava cake and ice cream was good.

This place was ok. My steak was extremely overcooked, but in the waiting staffs defense she offered to take it back and get it right. The flavors were good though. Unfortunately we did not have time to wait for another. The crab cakes were ok considering this place is in Fargo ND no where near the ocean.

Service was very good. Nice atmosphere. Ordered the lobster and shrimp paella. The paella did not have any crunch to it. It was mostly sticky with no crispy layer.
