The food and drinks were delicious. The macadamia nut crusted Chilean sea bass was perfectly cooked. The lobster risotto with it was creamy and also cooked to perfection. We highly recommend the chocolate lava cake with vanilla bean ice cream – so good! In addition, the atmosphere was nice.
Thank you for the amazing experience! We can’t wait to come back!
The purpose of our visit was to celebrate our mother’s 70th birthday. When making the reservation this was mentioned and the receptionist said they would have the table decorated and ready for a 70th birthday.
Upon arrival we were set in the back of the restaurant next to the restroom and server hallway with only menus decorating the table. Halfway through the dinner a table next to us arrived also with a birthday and we’re immediately given celebration hats and blowers. We asked for some and were provided them, but this was not our expectation based on the previous conversations with the restaurant.
We ended up spending $400 on a dinner for six that was just fine. We had a tenderloin returned and recooked due to being overcooked on the restaurant and a free dessert for the birthday girl, but the dessert was a small 1 1/2” by 1 1/2” square cake. Other than that everything was cooked well, tasted good, but didn’t Wow. The tres leches cake was probably the star of the night. The whole family felt it was the best item we ate.
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
My wife and I had a miraculous dining experience at Maxwell’s during our visit to Fargo. We arrived around 9:00 PM, knowing they closed at 10:00, and rushed over hoping to get seated. Despite the late hour, the service was incredibly accommodating.
–Service
Our server Jared was fantastic – friendly, knowledgeable, and very informative about all the entrees we inquired about. The service was quick without feeling rushed, which we really appreciated given the time constraints.
–The Food
**Bison Meatballs (Appetizer)**
Absolutely delicious. A great way to start the meal.
**Elk Tenderloin**
This was my choice, and I was thoroughly impressed. The dish came with sweet potato, broccoli, and an exceptional sauce. I expected the elk to be fairly gamey, but it was cooked just right – very tender and juicy. The presentation and flavor combination were perfect.
**Black Angus Ribeye**
My wife’s selection was equally outstanding. Cooked to perfection with delicious mashed potatoes, broccoli, and sauce. The steak was incredibly juicy, and she savored every bite despite not typically eating large portions. I tried a piece myself, and it was exceptional.
–Value
Some reviewers mention the prices being high, but honestly, the quality of the food makes it absolutely worth the cost. You get what you pay for, and in this case, it’s premium ingredients prepared expertly.
–Final Thoughts
We unfortunately had to skip dessert due to time (closing hour and our drive back to Minot the next day), but we’re already planning our return visit. Next time, we’re definitely staying for dessert!
–Bottom line:
If you’re in Fargo, Maxwell’s is a must-visit. 100% recommended, and we’ll absolutely be back!
Meat ball and crab cake appetizers very good.
Ribeye and tenderloin steaks were OK, average size and average tender & flavor. Tenderloin was better than the ribeye. Not a fan of the ribeye served on top of potatoes.
Pasta and sauces were OK.
Overall, entrees were cute but a little Spendy for “OK”.
Choc-chip cheese cake very good. Choc-lava cake and ice cream was good.
