Overall, it was a very positive experience. Staff was attentive and friendly. Pizza was solid, although it didn’t stand out in any particular area. Toppings were generally well distributed and didn’t skimp. I enjoyed the food and would eat here again… The biggest issue is when I want pizza, why I will choose this one over some of my other local favorites. As a whole good pizza, but I am usually looking for something that stands out… NY Style, Deep Dish, Unique Toppings, etc.
If I had to think of what pizza to compare this to, think of the now closed Cafe Pizzaria, so if you are looking for pizza similar to theirs, this is probably the place for you and will fill that particular void since it closed.
It’s worth stopping in and trying the new local pizza option for sure.

Nothing but good things coming out of this location! Pizza is excellent. Everything works so well together; dough, sauce, toppings.. salads are fresh and their house made vinaigrette is amazing. Support your local pizza places!

I have to admit, when I saw Max’s Place open up I was skeptical. Bloomington has a ton of great pizza already.
I am eating that skepticism and it tastes soooooooo good.
I make know bread. (I do make a lot of bread after all! lol!) I know pizza too. (I used to work at several different pizza places and make homemade pizza all the time.) I was blown away by the quality of their dough and by the quality of the ingredients they use. You can see the qualitylity in the pics. Look at those gorgeous anchovies! I’ve never had better on a pizza! And the crust was so well baked!
We got a margarita, a max, a Luciana (w/anchovies), and some breadsticks. Seriously so good! Every pizza was perfection! The only thing I would change (but it doesn’t really need changed), is I would put a little garlic dill butter on the breadsticks. But I absolutely love a good breadstick with some garlic dill butter and no one around here does them that way.
I hope they stay around for a long long time—forever really!

Carissa/karissa was a sweetheart. 10/10 service and looks. Very knowledgeable on the beers. Made me feel welcomed like i was at a hometown local joint. Great staff and vibe. Good music clean bathroom. Ohhh and she ran down a half block in the freezing cold to give me my capri suns i had forgot. Above and beyond service.

Great pizza place, I recommend the chef special if it sounds good to you. We had the November special with goat cheese, apple, butternut squash, and more! Thin crust, that stayed crispy, didn’t get soggy. I recommend the meatballs, good size with great sauce. Friendly service from the staff, they were patient, but also didn’t visit the table too much. Parking was easy with diagonal street parking.

We just got a cheese pizza and the BBQ chicken pizza and I swear this was the best pizza I have ever had in my life. It was cooked so perfectly and it’s just the best ingredients you can tell. Don’t go anywhere else in Bloomington, I’ve lived here my whole life and this is easily the best pizza in Bloomington ever. I wouldn’t even care how much it costs it’s so good it’s worth every dime every time.

The Tataki Tuna was a perfectly seared tuna on a bed of fresh greens, avocados, pickled onions, pepitas, topped with seaweed, and served with miso dressing. I could eat this everyday for lunch or dinner! So good! The thin crust Crossroads pizza was exactly what my vegetarian pizza soul was craving! The staff were very attentive, and pleasant. High quality food in a no-fuss environment.
I’m so glad that Max’s Place is back in business. Love it!

Great thin crust pizza with the tastiest crust ever. We shared large garden salad with super good balsamic dressing. Not only that, among the beers on offer is Naragansett a great Rhode Island brew!
