We decided to eat here instead of driving up the road for fast food. We were highly impressed. The food was so delicious! My husband had the philly and I had the pulled pork. We also had the sampler. All the food was hot and fresh, super fast service. The staff were all super friendly! If we ever travel this way again, we will definitely eat here again. I definitely recommend! I will also add, we went in about 30 minutes before closing and still had amazing service and hot food. It was a nice place to go after being on the road for three days.

Grandma Max’s is a must! The outside is just as aesthetically pleasing as it is inside. The staff was polite and quick to take care of our needs. The food itself was perfection and came out to the table quickly! The place was clean and also held a small gift shop within the front.

The food was good, the waitress was excellent. However the cook walked out often wearing the dirtiest clothes posible. Especially the blue jeans.. which looked more like a calico cat skinned and tailored to resemble pants. The food WAS good though.

I ordered the Hot Beef, a bowl of Potato Soup, and an unsweetened tea. The Hot Beef was unique in the fact the bread was toasted with a light butter, which presented a unique flavor and texture. The mash potatoes were real, creamy and really flavorful. The beef was really tender, fresh and really lean with a generous portion size. The potato soup was really good with a bit of kick to it (peppered slightly) which was different but good. Overall my experience was a positive one with friendly staff and definitely a cool, retro atmosphere with history. I would definitely suggest Max’s Highway Diner located inside the Flying J truck stop in Big Springs Nebraska

Came here 8:30 on a Sunday. They were very welcoming to dine in 30 min before closing.
I like the old school American diner look. The place had a few more flies then I’d like but whatever. It’s a diner in Nebraska lol.
I ordered the phily cheese mac&cheese and it was pretty good. I like the alfredo sauce that came with the pasta and the way they made the toast was amazing. It’s a simple dish done well. I would just add a bit more pasta.. there was like only 1 layer of penne.
I would go again but wouldn’t go out of my way to get there.
Price was pretty reasonable.

Ok people, I’ve done a lot of reviews but this review needs to make this place shine a spotlight. Absolutely the best food my mouth has ever had in it. My belly is thanking me for eating here. Price was worth every penny. Service was so awesome that i tipped a $5 bill and most are lucky to get $1-$2 tip but again worth every penny. Please come and enjoy the amazing food this diner has to offer. The Philly steak mac and cheese bake is off the chain. I will definitely stop through here again just to eat here.

Good solid food for about $11 a person. I had the BBQ Fries which were very good and filling, wife had the Chief Salad again the same description. The only complaint wife had was the Blue Cheese dressing was creamy not chunky.

Fun little diner off interstate, nice change of pace from fast food. Lots of gasoline advertising on display. Service was friendly. Food was good. Clean environment. Attached to truck stop so easy access.
