Almond fried chicken!! I been hearing about this almond chicken for months now from my wife, and we finally got some. It was amazing and the server was very patient and kind to our large group. Fast service and we didn’t have to wait to long for the food to come out. It’s kinda a smaller place on the restaurant side but they do have a bar side that I didn’t get around to visiting. Plenty of parking also.

What happened? The food and drinks used to be awesome. The almond chicken now resembles fried chicken gizzards? Used to be a fried chicken breast that was cut. All of our food was over fried and gross/ the meats escaped from being over fried. Soda syrup was out on the sprite and CO2 was running low and flat. Won’t be back again.

Sat right away took took order onlyb1 other table at time. 30 min plus wait for guest plate then 10 mins later my plate then we were half was through before our white rise showed up. Never got more tea. We were table of 2 no reason. For our food to be so spread apart. Then was not good. My almond chicken tasted like fried chicken with chicken gravy with little flavor. We were very disappointed in this restaurant. We’re are looking for new place but maxis will not be one we visit again

This is easily the best Chinese restaurant I’ve ever been to. It has a nice, cozy old-school atmosphere. The people who run it are incredibly nice.
I ordered a combo meal and a Coke. The sweet and sour chicken was amazing! The BBQ Pork Chow Yuk was incredible! I was able to swap out the prawns for almond chicken, which was also amazing. The fried rice was fantastic. Service was great, and the Coke I had was fresh, and the syrup was mixed perfectly.
I would wholeheartedly recommend Maxi’s!

The poor waiter was running around solo tonight. It took over 2 hours to get our food, they also completely forgot one dish. They were focusing more on to go orders than the customers on the dining room. The lady who is usually friendly was very rude. After having not gotten a refill in over a hour of my water I asked for a refill. She barked something at me and rushed, never coming back with my water. The food was good. The server was doing his best but getting no help from management

I made a phone order and came and picked it up. When I got home to my surprise, my general tsu chicken was less than edible. It was swimming in sauce and the chicken breading was like jelly. When I called the restaurant, the manager told me that she could not refund the chicken off my order. My mother went earlier that day and said that the new management that they are under, seem to not encourage good manners in there employees and lacking extreme time management. I have been going to this place for 10 years on Mother’s Day and have never been so disappointed and frankly disgusted by the food and the employees. Do better.

⭐ 3.5 out of 5 stars
The food here is really good — I finally found a local spot that makes Chinese cuisine the way I like it! The flavors are fresh and portions are decent.
That said, just be prepared — everything adds up fast. They charge extra for small things (like 50¢ for to-go bowls), and my egg fried rice was around $17. So while the quality is great, you’ll definitely pay for it.
If you don’t mind spending a little more for good food, you’ll enjoy it. But if you’re watching your budget, it’s something to keep in mind.

I’m a Kung Pow Chicken lover. I order it everytime I visit a new to me, Asian cuisine establishment, and always ordered at spicy level. I like spicy, so the next time I plan to return l know if I should go up or down in ‘s.
We ordered for pick-up and it was ready right on time. My wife likes the Mongolian beef at zero stars (she can’t do spicy anymore) and her dish was correct. But – something was off in her dish and she couldn’t put her finger on what it was, so she didn’t finish her plate. Additionally, half her dish was onions and bean sprouts; prompting the old phrase “where’s the beef.”
A bright shining star for Maxi’s wonton soup: it is exceptional, compared to many other establishments.
The food was good, but certainly not great. Sorry Maxi’s, maybe it was an off night for you.
I had taken pictures but I was so disappointed i erased them.

I leave this review with a heavy heart. I have been enjoying Maxi’s since I was a kid. It was the spot to go for amazing food and drinks. The almond chicken has always been to die for. I am now so disappointed. The food has become bland with hardly any flavor. The quantity is nothing like it used to be and the quality is like it was made by a white girl named Karen that might want to add raisens. I hope this changes, but I will sadly never go to Maxi’s for the foreseeable future.
