Hard to believe you can still get the same bourbon chicken you did decades ago. I rarely go to the mall anymore but had to return an American Eagle order so I grabbed a quick lunch and enjoyed the iconic bourbon chicken.

Been going here since the opened when I was in high school almost 20 years ago! They were the first place to introduce me to Bourbon and Orange Chicken. No one has ever topped their Bourbon chicken and their General Tso’s is also a favorite of mine. The choice of lo mein over rice is my go to! Best of all they have NEVER changed over all this time. They are also a great option on door dash.

I LOVE the food here, and was lowkey broke so I just wanted an egg roll. So I got in line, ordered my eggrolls. Right of the bat, the vibe changed and the workers were kind of rude to me immediately. I get down the line and go to pay, I had Tap to pay, which I made sure they took it before I even ordered. They did. I went to pay, and the lady had pulled the reader back too soon so it didn’t take. I said oh! Hold on, lets retry! And the lady was rude as hell and tried to snatch my phone from my hand then proceeded to mean mug me when I wouldn’t give it to her. I definitely will NOT be back. I just wanted an egg roll and got treated like shit from the moment I ordered. Get better staff, I know this isn’t an isolated incident since I HEARD them be rude to the people behind me too.

Food was old couldn’t hardly chew half the chicken pieces. More than half the chicken I had to spit out cuz it was so hard.
Then I’d come across a nice tender one but most of it was hard. I asked for general chicken in two sides I got charged for three. Crab rangoon awful dry old. Egg roll wasn’t too bad. For the price please don’t go save your money go somewhere else $30.00 for 2 meals

I typically come here for orange chicken, the food itself is good, big portions. However, last night I went to max orient in the mall and the two guys in front of me us pointed out a living baby mouse on the counter. One of the guys pointed it out to one of the workers, the same worker then threw a rag over it then threw the rag on the ground and stomped on it. This obviously made me question the food safety, the staff, and now the food itself. Safe to say I’m grossed out and never going there ever again.

Me and my husband (half chinese) got food at this place. It was so good and the service was awesome. Workers there especially prodeep was great at receiving and handling our food. Food was cheap too. We will def come back later with our daughters to get more. 5/5

Walking into the Battlefield Mall food court it was completely changed from what I remembered. However one restaurant has stood the test of time and while all of the others have changed in the last 13 years, Max Orient still remains. The food did not disappoint. The bourbon chicken and general chicken were exactly like I remembered. If you are in the mall and looking for some good food I would definitely recommend Max Orient.

I usually love the food here. It was still very good, however they didn’t put any cashews on my cashew chicken. And the crab rangoons were so stale and tough, I could not eat them.
The price is reasonable. Or, it would have been if the crab rangoons were fresh.
