My 3 star rating is based off of my experience today. I do love Max Fish and I have been here many times for dinners and happy hours.
I came for my birthday dinner and made a reservation online. When I made the reservation I checked off birthday and also let the waiter know. We got 2 drinks, a raw bar sampler, an order of the prefix special chowder & salmon, and the surf and turf filet mignon and 1/2 steamed lobster. We spent a little over $200. When it came down to dessert I was asked if I wanted a dessert menu. I was unsure if they would do anything special like give a complimentary ice cream scoop or slice of cake or something so I ended up ordering the special tiramisu and asked the waiter to put a candle in it. I received a mumbled happy birthday from my waiter and I was a little surprised they didn’t do anything special like decorate the plate at least or comp dessert but maybe I’m just used to that happening at other restaurants. More importantly, I did box my dessert to take home and enjoy and I found a piece of plastic string or some other unknown object in my food. At first I thought it was hair but it was almost translucent and had a plastic string consistency. I did stop eating after this and am upset I paid for a foreign object in my food. Overall my dinner was good. I just wish my special day felt a bit more special and without foreign objects in my food.

Always a Top 10 experience! Drink specials were creative and delicious. Food was prepared exactly to order, presented beautifully, and tasted amazing. Angie was a great server. As out-of-towners, we don’t get to visit very often, but we are delighted that our high expectations have been met every time for many, many years. Keep up the great work!

We ate here our last night in CT. We had the CT style lobster roll and the NY Strip & crab cake. Everything was delicious and the steak was cooked perfectly. The remoulade for the crab cake was a little salty for my tastes but had good flavor. Thanks for the great meal!

Nice seafood place. They have happy hour everyday at 3:30pm so I went for that. The food was good – fresh oysters, good fried shrimp and calamari, and drinks were also good. The space is spacious and large. Good for dates, catching up with friends, or a large get together. It was clean and modern inside with a huge raw bar near the entrance. Service is friendly and lovely and very accommodating. Would come here again for their oysters.

Had a really enjoyable meal at Max Fish yesterday. The decor is refined and relaxing. The service is attentive and professional. So I don’t eat seafood and got a steak. The steak was really good and prepared how I wanted it. Max restaurants at the standard for fine dinning and you can’t go wrong with any of them. Good food, great service, in a beautiful restaurant.

Fine dining restaurant with good service. Carlton our host was very friendly and helpful apart from other staff members who gazed at us as we looked visitors to the area, they weren’t friendly at all. Food was fresh and perfect. The mussels were succulent, the fish and ships were delicious and fried calamari was excellent as well. The paella was ok but lacked taste. Overall experience was very good apart from the weird totally unfriendly gaze from the reception staff.
The second visit was far much better.
