Shocked to find such a fun time in Zachary! This old train depot is now a happening bar and restaurant. Mavericks Brew N Q is serving up a good time and BBQ. Thursday night we popped in to find TRIVIA night! Friday night they said was Karaoke night. They are having a Superbowl party this weekend. We went after the kitchen closed, so I can’t comment on the food but the atmosphere was on point! Kudos to this business owner for bringing this fun place to little Zachary. Bartender was attentive and fun!

Atmosphere was lovely energetic.
Food not impressed.
I ordered pulled pork sandwich, it taste rancid. I told my waitress & I was not offered something different or anything other than inexperienced staff not knowing what to do.
Chef did not come talk to me etc.
Coleslaw was not flavorful either boring.
Sweet tea was way too sweet.
My husband ordered mac & cheese it was good & he was happy with the brisket flavor also.
Pineapple & jalapeños sausage was good. BBQ sauce was not to my liking no alternative. All the food was served cold.
Just not going back, not impressed with over all staff or food.

Maybe the worst BBQ I’ve had. Mostly dry and not a lot of flavor. Some of the food was really off like it was turning bad. They served me yellow mustard that had turned gray from sitting so long in a plastic cup. BBQ sauce is odd and not very good, more like a tomato salsa than BBQ sauce. Mac and cheese tasted sour. Sausage was good but dry. Brisket was dry and not much flavor except for the crust. Chicken very dry. Pulled pork had bad smoke taste like the fire wasn’t right temp.
Aside from the food, the table was so wobbly that drinks got spilled. They had non perforated paper towels (like the ones that go into a bathroom dispenser) on table which were a pain to tear off. Awkward experience coming in they didn’t seat us for a while and it took forever even though the place was empty.

The atmosphere was nice. I ordered the chicken quarter and it was burnt , dry and flavorless. The beans were delicious as was the ice tea. Their recipe for the chicken needs to be amended so it can be flavorful, juicy and tender. I’ll try them one more time to see how their ribs are and I’ll write another review.

Delicious brisket and tasty coleslaw washed down with a cold draft while listening to live music – a most pleasant Sunday afternoon at a nicely converted train depot with lots of outside places to enjoy our nice fall weather, while it lasts. Don’t worry about the kick, the food is very flavorful without being overly peppery (at least for my tastes).

We’ve been about 5 times now, brought our dog to the outdoor space this time. The entire family gets the pulled pork sandwich, the kids with just sauce and my wife and I with them coleslaw topping. It’s great! I’m a beer hippy so love the array of local beer options. Great atmosphere and really reasonably priced. 🙂

When you first walk in you get to seat your self but get comfortable you be waiting maybe 10 minutes ( mind you it was dead slow) just for the menu. Then the waitress kept on just rushing us and acting quite rude. When we decided we also ordered an appetizer and we did not get till 45 minutes later. And then about an 1 hour later for the food. Mind you I understand how long it takes to have that good BQQ flavor, but when we got the food it was burnt like it went through a crematory. I am to say with absolute certainty do not Order the food unless you love burnt without a reason of a doubt type of food. Just sticks to the drinks I guess. If was an option I give it -5 star out of 5. So disappointed but life lesson learned. Hope I can spare y’all from this experience.

Ordered the brisket sandwich and the baked potato salad! They served ground brisket sandwich cold, not enough bbq sauce. The baked potato salad was very dry. They can’t do separate checks for a group .

Good atmosphere! Good food! Friendly service! If you love history like myself, you will really love sitting in this place! Love the interior as well. Need to fix pricing. Too pricey for the amount of food served. Recommend for them to add more deserts of other foods to their menu.
