Reviews
The fries were a pleasant surprise: generous portion, great seasoning, and a really satisfying crisp.
Overall, it’s a good burger spot. But in a city full of smashburger places, it doesn’t quite stand out enough to be memorable. Tasty, enjoyable, but not a game-changer.
Walked in was met with friendly staff, offering great recommendations, especially concerning the portions of food and the time/wait to cook it .
I ended up getting the double patty, burger, and a nice ale with fries .
You were able to sit and enjoy your meal and talk. The staff was incredibly kind.
No notes 10/10 experience
The buns they gave us were yesterday’s leftover buns that they bought as they ran out of their usual buns, as told by the staff. I understand they don’t want food waste, but it’s like McDonald’s running out of their signature buns and giving a grocery store one
The impossible burger has 2 mayo based sauces as well as cheese on it and ghee on the bun – I feel a full vegan option would make more sense as after taking everything off that I couldn’t eat, it was like eating a burger served from a high school cafeteria. Thankfully I got pickles
The fries were nothing special. The onion rings were good, nice and crispy
There are a few tables inside
I was disappointed with the chefs attitude and disappointed with the quality.
I got the double smashed hamburger combo,
I wasn’t expecting my hamburger bun to look so different as advertised online and from pictures and videos. Our hamburger bun looked different from the couple that came in and ordered after us.
When I brought this up to the kitchen chefs attention he replied we were short on burger buns.
I was told we were given a two day old bun or else it would’ve gone in the garbage. That’s not right.
My fries were not hot, barely any salt and had no taste.
We spent over $50 for two hamburger combos. I would not return nor recommend.
That’s exactly the message I want to shout from the rooftops after finally experiencing Matty’s Patties yesterday. In a city brimming with culinary choices, I’m constantly on the hunt for those truly life-changing bites, and Matty’s has been on my radar for a while. What an absolute delight to discover this place embodies everything that’s right about the Toronto food scene.
From the moment I walked in, the positive energy was palpable. The staff are genuinely happy to be there, and every single interaction, from ordering to receiving my food, was nothing short of fantastic. Their enthusiasm is infectious and truly adds to the overall experience.
And then there’s the food. I opted for their classic cheeseburger, and boy, was I impressed. The patty itself was a masterpiece – perfectly cooked, incredibly juicy, and seasoned to perfection. The sauce was a delicious complement, but the real showstopper for me was the bread. Oh, that bread! Generously adorned with sesame seeds, it held everything together beautifully and added another layer of texture and flavour.
With every bite, I found myself getting a little bit sadder, knowing that this exceptional burger would soon be a delicious memory.
I absolutely cannot wait to go back and dive deeper into their menu, not just for the food, but also for another helping of those friendly faces. Matty’s Patties delivers a top-notch burger that truly lives up to the standards of a city that deserves only the best.
Definitely worth a trip if you’re in Toronto or in Canada or even in North America. You’ll be glad you did.
Like a lot of people, I stopped by Matty’s Patty’s because I love Matty Matheson. He is one of my favorite people to watch on TV and YouTube. Even though he is a legit chef, I honestly didn’t expect too much from a small burger spot with a simple menu. I figured I was mostly going for the experience.
But man, the burgers surprised me in the best way.
They are simple, but they hit hard. The smashed patty, the melted cheese, the soft bun, everything just worked. It proves you don’t need a pile of toppings or some crazy creation to make a great burger. You just need good ingredients and someone who knows what they are doing.
I also grabbed the chili fries and they were awesome. The chili actually had a kick, not that weak “restaurant spicy” stuff. Honestly, everything I tried tasted way better than I expected.
I liked the place so much I even bought one of their sweaters for seventy‑five bucks. No regrets. The merch looked great, the vibe in the place was fun, and the staff were super chill. They reminded me a lot of Matty himself. Friendly, easygoing, and the food came out fast.
And honestly, whether you are craving a smashed burger, a regular burger, or you are the type of person who suddenly decides they want sushi at two in the afternoon, I would still tell you to swing by Matty’s Patty’s if you are in Toronto. It is just that good.
You won’t regret it.
Not a very big shop (cozy seating) on a very busy street. I recommend if looking for a good smash burger. I hear they do their fries in beef tallow which is something to try next but the fries don’t look fresh cut.
