“Great food, down-to-earth service, and a perfect small-town vibe”
Matt’s Grill & Lodge is exactly what you want from a local spot — friendly faces, hearty portions, and food that tastes like it was cooked with pride. It’s got that genuine small-town energy where everyone seems to know each other, but newcomers feel right at home too.
I ordered the burger and fries, and it was outstanding — juicy, perfectly seasoned, and served hot off the grill. The fries were golden and crisp, not greasy, and the portion size was more than fair. On a return visit, I tried one of their breakfast plates and it hit all the right notes — eggs cooked just right, thick-cut bacon, and hash browns with the perfect crunch.
The service here is what really seals the deal. The staff are quick, attentive, and genuinely kind. You can tell they care about the people coming through the door — it’s not forced politeness, it’s real hospitality.
The atmosphere is relaxed, with that comfortable “locals’ lodge” feel — a mix of rustic charm and good conversation. It’s the kind of place where you can kick back after a long day, grab a cold drink, and enjoy food that hits the spot every time.
If you’re in or around Asotin, Matt’s Grill & Lodge is absolutely worth the stop. Great people, great food, and that rare kind of small-town authenticity that’s hard to find anywhere else.
We had the German omelette, German Eggs Benedict and half portion of the Apple pancakes.
I found the German omlette much tastier than the German Eggs benedict.
Some amazing Citrus mistress Ale, Teeling Irish whisky, Hot butter Rum; all three drinks were amazing. Special thumbs up for the Hot butter Rum.
Matt’s grill is super light on the wallet and perfect to satisfy your cravings.
We were a large group visiting Clarkston from out of town and someone recommended this place so we have it a shot. Wow we weren’t disappointed!
Seated quickly both times, and received such fast and friendly service. Full bar so of course bloody Mary’s, clam diggers, and Spanish coffees were in order. But the food was just as good as everything else! Chicken fried steak, German pancakes, apple stuff, German omelette with sauerkraut (try it!) and Swiss cheese, plus several more dishes I can’t remember that our group tried over the 2 days. ALL so good!
We only visit this area infrequently but we know where we’re going every single time now for great food.
If you have a yearning for “Schnitzel” (unique for this area) this is the place for you: Weiner, Jager, Chicken, or Beef Schnitzel. Also, many traditional German side dishes. Entrees come with desert. We dined in but take out available.
