Located right next to the Chihuly Garden, Matt’s Fish Basket is situated inside a spacious food court. I decided to give it a try after reading some reviews. I ordered the Sampler and the Oyster basket. Overall, the seafood was fairly fresh, though the oysters in the basket were a bit over-fried. Considering the portion size, I found it to be a bit too pricey for what you get.

My daughter and I were there Jan. 3 around 1pm. We ordered the Alaskan wild fish and chips with mango habanero sauce and the shrimp basket with ol’bay aioli. We didn’t wait for our food long and there were plenty of tables. The food was absolutely superb and the portions were literally perfect! We left the armory extremely satisfied and still thinking about our meal! A THANK YOU to the chef who took and cooked our order! Well done Matt’s Fish! Your people and food are why we will definitely be back!

Got the sampler so I could try a little bit of everything. It comes with cod, shrimp, oysters, and fries, and it was a solid choice. The cod was easily my favorite. It was cooked just right with flaky, moist fish inside and a really crispy exterior. The batter was nicely seasoned and had a great balance, not too light where it falls off and not too heavy either, and it stayed crunchy without feeling greasy.
The shrimp and oysters were also good with a nice crunch and no rubbery texture. One small note is I probably should have grabbed the cocktail sauce for the oysters.
The fries were hot and crispy. I would definitely come back, especially for the cod.

After looking around the Seattle Armory for a bit, this place seemed to have the best reviews, so decided to go here. We ended up splitting the Seafood Sampler Platter, which came with two fried oysters, two fried shrimp, two fried cod pieces, fries, and old bay and tartar sauces
This place has some really good fried seafood.
The oyster had the lightest breading of the bunch, but retained its very fishy taste throughout, and even felt a little bit fresh despite sitting in the batter. On the contrary, the shrimp was more heavily breaded, but it was massive – maybe the biggest shrimp I’ve eaten. There was so much meat to it despite being under that layer.
My favorite was the cod though, which is some of the best fried fish I’ve had. The breading was crunchy and thick, but the inside of the fish was truly great – it was unbelievably moist, and a joy to eat. On the outside, like each of the different seafood, the oiliness was apparent, indicating it was fried very well
I did have some small negatives though. Firstly, I thought there could’ve been way more seasoning involved. Second, the fries were very average – they were a little soggy and wimpy. Lastly, the old bay and tartar sauces had no real flavor to them – mostly both just tasting like mayo and orange mayo
For the $30 that we shared, we got an absolutely massive bucket, which was a large enough portion size to absolutely be worth the $15 each
Overall, the Armory is a bunch of overpriced restaurants that aren’t that good, but this isn’t one of them. 8.25/10

We did not like the food. The batter was way too thick and greasy, so we ended up removing it and just eating the fish. The fish itself wasn’t anything special either – just a standard white fish, and we couldn’t really tell the difference between the cod and the Alaskan whitefish. The employee is friendly and super energetic, though!

A bit pricey but totally worth it.The fish was tender and crispy, flakey batter. The hush puppies with the butter. The drink and atmosphere are very nice. Best experience I’ve had with cod so far.

Have to give it a two. 50 bucks for 2 baskets of cod. Main issue is that one of the boxes had fish that was mostly bread. So we really paid for fries and 1/4 of the fish i expected for 22 bucks. The other box was probably on par for other restaurants. Example, one piece was about 6 inches long and on avg the fish inside was close to 1/4 of an inch while being more than 1/2 inch thick due to bread. The other peice had a little more fish half way through. The fries were great. I should have just got fries. People were nice. I gave them a nice tip but wont be back.
