Guy Fieri definitely put us on with this one

We first saw this downtown Phoenix breakfast spot on YouTube when it was a tiny location — and now it’s fully expanded and remodeled. The space is beautiful with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. We went on a Monday morning and it was still busy, but not so packed that we couldn’t sit and enjoy our meal.

Everything we ordered was so good. The homemade lemonade honey drink? Unreal. I had the Big Papa Burrito stuffed with chorizo, potatoes, egg, and cheese in a fresh flour tortilla made right here in Phoenix — flavorful, filling, and worth every bite.

Bonus points for carrying Arizona-based Gunslinger hot sauce, but their house-made hot sauce was my favorite. And the pancakes were fluffy and delicious.

Great food, great energy, and reasonably priced. A solid downtown Phoenix breakfast spot.

First time going. The service was amazing! From the time you walk in till the time you leave the staff was friendly, accommodating, helpful and supportive of their coworkers. I’m guessing the owners may have been assisting as well. If not it was management. The entire staff pitched in, there was no lack or slack. You won’t see anyone just standing, every one had motion and it worked well. The restaurant was clean and the customers even interacted with one another, gave it a nice welcoming environment. The food was pretty good, I had the pancakes and side of bacon. I wasn’t a fan of the peppered bacon but the family enjoyed it. My son had the burger and it was pretty tasty. My mom had the BLT, the tomatoe slices were nice and thick, I just ate them off my son burger and my mom’s BLT they didn’t mind LOL. Overall we enjoyed the visit and the food and will go back when on that side of town. Oh the wait when we arrived was minimal, but as we were leaving there was a bit of a line.

Great food Great metro feeling atmosphere. The servers work as a team so someone is constantly glncing to see if you need simething without being intrusive. Rush times dont seem to be their preference though. Not preferred as a place for small children but definatley for a group of adults or teenagers. No kids menu, pricing or portions

In new lovely location right next door to old restaurant with variety of seating options…. wonderful menu with good food and great service. Eggs were cooked a little hard, but chicken sausage was tasty and hash browns delicious. Seasoned well and crispy. Will definitely return when in Phoenix.

THE REAL DEAL! Matt’s Big Breakfast in downtown Phoenix is WHERE IT’S AT! I got the Sunday special steak and eggs, and man… it was BOMB! The steak was cooked to perfection, and those eggs… ugh, don’t even get me started! I added a side of their thick bacon, and oh man, it was the perfect combo of crispy and chewy. And don’t forget the hop and chick .. it was so good! I also got a single griddlecake on the side, and it was fluffy and sweet.

Now, let’s talk about the service . TOP-NOTCH! Our servers were attentive, friendly, and made sure everything was just right. If you’re in the area , i must try ..! Lives up to the hype, and I’m coming back for more!

Had to check it out because of all of the hype. Well it definitely lived up to it. The special of the day was the 20th Anniversary Corned Beef Hash so both my husband and I got it. It was delicious!!!!! Best Corned beef hash I have ever eaten!!! Go on Wednesday because that is the only day you can get it!!! We got it with sour dough bread which was thick and really tasty, with the strawberry preserves on top just made it even better. The staff was friendly, attentive, and my coffee never went past 1/2 full without getting a top off. The place itself seems newer, light and bright. There is seating both inside and out. Definitely give it a try if you are in the area.

Generous servings, I liked their sourdough toast, had a nice crunch with every bite.
We had a short wait 5 to 7 min to be seated. They were steady the whole time we were there, but they kept the line moving.
They let you know they are team concept restaurant, so everyone checks on all the tables.

This is the breakfast spot to go in Pheonix! The food was phenomenal! They actually have real hashbrowns! That is hard to find these days. Their bacon was awesome and their omelets had no shortage of meat and cheese. Oh, did I mention, its a 3 egg omelet also. Orange juice is fresh squeezed. Service wa outstanding and fast as heck. The only downside is parking is limited and its a bit loud inside. But well worth that sacrifice! I will be back again next time in Pheonix.

Big Matt knows what’s up!
My family was impressed with the food and staff. I haven’t witnessed a staff that works together as well as Big Matt’s. Everyone was friendly, helpful, and quick. The food was delicious. This was our first visit and we went with the breakfast burrito, the 5 spot platter, and short stack of blueberry pancakes (a local favorite). I tried the Skinny which was light and healthy, I felt it was missing carbs (purposely) but you can add home fries. The only other thing missing was a gourmet coffee menu, but there’s plenty of shops around town. Big Mikes prides themselves on fresh, local ingredients. Try the orange juice, voted best we’ve ever had! I give five stars for the staff and flavor, but I would give 3 stars for the voice level. If you or a member of your party have sensory issues, this might not be your place. The metal chairs are a constant noise against the concrete floors. Keep that in mind for sensory sensitive guests. It was a bit of an over stimulation for me.
