To celebrate National Pizza Day, I took my parents to check out Matthew’s Pizza in the Highlandtown area. Luckily, there was no waiting time and we got a table right away. We started with mozzarella sticks, French fries, and Bone-in Buffalo wings; the wings were the perfect crispy texture and the buffalo sauce was mild and tasty. We ordered the ‘Fiery Hawaiian’ and ‘The Great White Veggie’ pizzas; watch out for the jalapeño peppers, they’re spicy, but the pizza is so good! For a sweet finish, we had ‘cannoli’ and the star of the night, the ‘limoncello cake,’ which was very tasty, with great fluffy texture and the right amount of sweetness. They’re very popular for their crab pie. Service was attentive and outstanding overall; we enjoyed the nostalgic vibe and the quiet atmosphere.

I live nearby and somehow I haven’t heard of it! But let me clear, I will definitely be back. Amazing deep dish. I ordered the veggie option which I’d recommend, but something also tells me to stick with the classic 3-cheese pie next time. Service was fast and helpful. Around $20 for a solid meal and some leftovers.

I don’t post a review on a business often but when I do, it’s because I was disappointed or extremely impressed. I’ve had pizza from many establishments, many times because of recommendations from others. Some were better than others but most were pretty much like all of the others. My husband being from Baltimore ( I’m from Pennsylvania) he has often talked about Mathews. I never gave it much thought because when I wanted a pie, I’d always go where I knew was good. During the most recent visit, I wanted something good, something authentic. My husband suggested Mathews. I looked them up and decided to give them a go based on the pictures. Upon entering the small but not cramped dining area, we were greeted immediately by the friendly staff and our orders were taken. We ordered the Caprese Toast which was amzing and then Greektown Pizza, both of which the 2 of us shared. The toppings were simple and fresh and I could taste each one with every bite. The crust was light and crispy. I can honestly say this was by far the best pizza I have ever had. I was extremely impressed. We both left full with nothing left over (because it was so delicious). I have found my new pizza spot for when we visit Baltimore and want pizza. In fact, before we left the city to go back home to Pennsylvania, we called and ordered “The Popular” to take home to our kids. Bottom line….eating in was very comfortable, staff was extremely friendly and attentive and the food was superb. A visit here is highly recommended and a must try!!

A friend of mine recommended that I try this pizza… in my honest opinion the pizza was just ok…the crust was the star of the show, the back edge was crispy and delicious, but the pizza itself was pretty bland it definitely lacked flavor. I waited 20 minutes for an 8inch personal pizza. The pizza came out on a paper plate wrapped in paper with no pizza box It cost me 20 bucks for a 8 inch personal pizza and a 20oz soda….

Great food. Knowledgeable staff. Casual, comfortable. Exactly what you expect in a great pizzeria. They are rightly famous for their crab pizza. Crust is lighter than you’d expect. Flavors were subtle and balanced. A must try place if you’re in Baltimore.

We finally stopped into Matthew’s Pizza around 5:30 p.m. on a Friday — the place was packed, which we took as a good sign. After a short 20-minute wait, we got our pizza, and let me tell you, it did not disappoint. Easily one of the top three best pizzas I’ve ever had.
The crust was perfectly baked, the ingredients tasted incredibly fresh, and the cheese was rich and flavorful , you can tell they take pride in every pie that leaves their oven. If you’re a true pizza lover, this spot is a must-visit. Highly recommend.

I’ve been to Matthew’s a handful of times. Each visit has been very consistent. I’ve ordered the margherita, 3 cheese, and popeye. All three have been really good, with the 3 cheese being my favorite. The crust is absolutely old of the stars. I’d call it a semi- deep dish crust that has a nice crisp. There’s a lot of cheese and the ratio to other toppings is good. I would say the most underwhelming item I’ve ordered is the iced tea, but that’s not a big deal. The service has been good and the prices I think are fair. Matthew’s is certainly one of the better pizzerias in Baltimore City. It’s different than your average pizza parlor so if you go in expecting that you’re expectations may not be met. Matthew’s is a solid spot!

Matthew’s is my favorite neighborhood pizzeria with only one other that I normally consider. I admit it has been awhile since I’ve been here, but I’ve not been in the neighborhood in a long time. I found it comforting that the pizza and the service have not changed. I have never been disappointed when I choose to enjoy food from Matthew’s. I highly recommend that if you haven’t already, give Matthew’s Pizzeria a try.

Today I had the worst experience with this place!!!! My family and I ordered a cheese pizza and sat down to wait for it. When it was done we were told we couldn’t sit in there to eat! I asked why and the lady that works here told me because I ordered carry out and she already wrapped my food up. I than told her thanks for wrapping my food but I wanted to eat in. I than found myself going back and forth with her and I left because she said we couldn’t eat here! I’ve NEVER eaten here before so this place most definitely has a race issue!!!! I will never come here again! PS. My pizza was burnt and I threw it away!

Matthew’s Pizzeria is a Baltimore classic, offering dine-in 8″ and 10″ pies that are perfect for lunch or dinner. The classic mozzarella and white pies are both delicious. I’m a New Yorker but will be back!
