This place has a great cozy Italian feel. I had dinner here with a friend recently and loved it. The appetizer meatballs were excellent, and for my entrée I had the fresh rigatoni, which was exceptional. Everything tasted high quality and truly authentic. I’ll definitely be back.

My First trip to Jersey and my Fiancée and her family picked Matthew’s as our 1 Italian restaurant for the trip. They have been eating there for years and couldn’t wait to take me in for a family dining experience. Let me tell you, small town restaurant, BIG TIME FLAVOR. Everything we ordered from apps to dessert was amazing. Best Italian food I’ve had in years. Our service was above and beyond, Marisa was a terrific server and really very knowledgeable, friendly, and hospitable. I had the Fettuccini Alfredo with Chicken Oregenata. The chicken was tender and juicy, the pasta was cooked perfect and the sauce with rich and creamy. Everything from the Rolls, to the Calamari, to Veal Parm(which fiancée ordered) and the Tartufo was Perfect. I will be back and will tell everyone I know that when they visit Clifton, Nj or anywhere nearby, they should RUN, don’t walk to Matthew’s for a 1 of a kind experience where Matthew himself shows up to your table and treats you like Family. Everything about our night was the Perfect Italian Experience, like I was back in Rome!!

Went to Matthew’s Italian Restaurant last night for the first time. Exceptional food..food came out hot and was excellent. One of the best restaurants we have been to recently. The waitress was wonderful..Have nothing negative to say about the food, service or any of the help. If you like calamari…the calamari in red sauce over pasta is the best I ever had. You can get it spicy or not spicy. We give this restaurant

I recently visited Matthews Restaurant for dinner with my wife, and we had a wonderful experience. It was our first time dining here, and everything was truly up to the mark. We ordered Eggplant Rollatini, Cavatelli & Broccoli, and Manicotti — each dish was flavorful, delicious, and served in generous portions. The service was excellent as well, making the evening even more enjoyable. Highly recommend!

My family visited Matthew’s for the first time last evening, and we had a fantastic experience! The food was stellar, but the service was truly exceptional. Every staff member – from our initial greeting to the moment we left – was kind, friendly, personable, and incredibly attentive.
Our server, Tiffany, was wonderful, and her care and professionalism truly elevated the entire experience. Our food arrived promptly throughout, everything was cooked and prepared perfectly, and our appetizers, main courses, and desserts were absolutely delicious. The chicken parm was outstanding, and my son adored the calamari!
The atmosphere was lively and welcoming, and operationally there was a level of precision and efficiency that really stood out. We will absolutely be returning soon. Thank you to the entire team for an awesome meal!

I cannot express how much I appreciate Matthew’s. It’s a truce slice of heaven. Not only is the food out of this world, where it really shines is the staff and the atmosphere. When you come here, you truly become part of the family. I have been eating here whenever I come back to Clifton for over ten years and have never been disappointed. The broccoli and cavatelli is so light it’s like eating a cloud. My dad always gets the snapper and has never been disappointed. You can get amazing food lots of places but what is makes this place truly special is the special care that Matthew and his entire staff pays to you. It’s a tribute to him how much everyone who works there really tries to make it home for every guest. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Matthew’s is a wonderful restaurant. My father passed away last month, and after handling the funeral arrangements, my mom, sister, and I decided to go out to eat while continuing to plan. We chose Matthew’s, even though none of us had been there before.
Before the meal was over, we had already decided to have Matthew’s cater my father’s repast, which was going to be held in Clifton. Everything was absolutely delicious. (Side note: I had the spaghetti and meatballs—and I’m still drooling just thinking about that red sauce!)
Matthew himself helped us figure out the catering order while we were finishing dessert. From start to finish, the experience was excellent. The food arrived on time, piping hot, beautifully presented, and they supplied everything we needed.
Everyone loved the food, and many guests asked where it came from. Of course, we proudly told them—Matthew’s! We couldn’t be happier and will absolutely be back, both for special occasions and probably just to satisfy a spaghetti-and-meatballs craving as well.
