We had an amazing time tonight and the reasons for that are simple, the food and service. Cheryl was an excellent and attentive server despite having large tables to assist. She was kind, polite, and you’d never know that she was waiting on other tables, especially one with at least ten guests. I didn’t get a picture of the pasta but it had sun-dried tomatoes, chicken sausage, asparagus and that dish was the star. The pizza, salad, bread, and gelato were all fabulous too. Thanks for providing a great father and daughter date night.

It was our first time here tonight and it was incredible! The way to our heart at a restaurant is the service and we loved our server Tami! All of the staff were great. I had the linguine frutti di mare and it was so good! The scallops in it were perfect. We also loved the calamari and panna cotta! Thank you Matteo’s! We can’t wait to come back!

Matteo’s is nicer than expected…great wine list, excellent calamari appetizer and the tiramisu is delightful. They have quite a wide variety of Italian cuisine…I was in a party of 3. We ordered a gnocchi dish, a linguine with mussels dish and a chicken lasagna (special). All were excellent and the portion size was very good. My the time I finished my tiramisu, I was pleasantly satisfied but not uncomfortably stuffed. We each had a cocktail and my “Grinch” (midori and limoncello) was delicious. I couldn’t eat here weekly but for a special occasion, it was terrific.

Long story short: spent hours there. Everything took an ungodly amount of time. Scallops came out cold.
When I mentioned this to the server they took my plate back. Heated it up and replated the same food I already ate and gave it back to me. I couldn’t believe it. Major health code violation for a restaurant slinging 50 dollar plates. I could see the bite I took out of the scallops that came back and the redressed cup of plain white rice that came with it.
Also my old fashioned tasted like syrup with minor whisky. You’re charging 12 bucks for a drink that comes from a 14 dollar bottle. It’s all robbery. Evan Williams? Really?
I’ve been going here for years. This was the last time.
Matteo should have never sold the restaurant to the new people.
Edit: response to owner. Being busy is not an excuse for critical health code violations. You don’t take food from the dining room back into the kitchen to “reheat” a 50 dollar plate of food on the grill. I don’t care how busy you are.
Now that you’ve stated that health code violations are acceptable when you’re busy we really should address this. What else happens that you consider acceptable when busy?

Bread was not ready when we got there because “they don’t cook it until the first table arrives” so then explain to me why other tables were getting bread dropped off when I had to ask about it if we were the first table there with a reservation. Couldn’t even be ready for the people that took the time to tell you they were going to be there. The service was not worth the automatic gratuity by any stretch of the imagination.
And yes you are correct. The staff did take time away from their family. Thankfully the owner made time for his family while everyone else worked.

I recently brought a group of 50 people to Mateo’s for a large dinner event. According to the menu and what was promised, we were supposed to receive two entrées as part of the dinner. Instead, what we actually received was half of a chicken Parmesan cutlet and a very small scoop of tortellini. While we were also served a small side salad, the portion sizes were shockingly small, especially considering we each paid $36 for this meal.
For comparison, it would have been both cheaper and far more satisfying to simply order directly off the regular menu. When I raised my concerns with the manager, rather than acknowledging the issue or making it right, he dismissed my concerns with excuses and an argumentative attitude.
I have been a loyal customer at Mateo’s for years and have personally spent well over $10,000 here. Unfortunately, after this experience, this will be the last time I dine at this restaurant.

My husband and I came here for a date night the other night and we had a wonderful experience. The server was attentive and kind. She made sure we always had our drinks full and oil on the table for our bread. She was knowledgeable about the menu and had great recommendations. Of course I went with my favorites – calamari and linguine with their white clam sauce (it was amazing) and my husband got the Ravioli Mariarosa which he found extremely flavorful and tasty. And of course I had to leave with a slice of their housemade tiramisu. I was too full to eat it at the restaurant but I had it the next day and it was so good. I can’t wait to come back again.

We had not been to Matteo’s in a few years. Expecting the same food and service we enjoyed the times before, we left disappointed with our whole experience. Our calamari was dry and was like leather, we should’ve sent back. Our waitress did not go over specials, they sounded really good, and only knew there were some after we already had ordered . The pizza is basically a hard cracker with sauce and cheese. We did like the bread and olive oil, although the olive oil had already been on our plates, which we thought was odd. Service was a bit slow given amount of people dining.

Excellent place to get Italian food. Restaurant owner is incredibly friendly and accommodating. Food is delicious and service is efficient and attentive. If you want a bit more upscale Italian experience this is a fantastic option. The Caeser salad was outstanding and the Tagliatelle pasta had superb flavors. The house made gnocchi was outstanding as well. Highly recommended!!!
