First time trying out Matteo’s Express. It’s a food truck located on a corner in Jackson, Wisconsin. It’s in the parking lot of a shipping business. The parking lot has a few other spots. If it were busy, I don’t know where else you would park.
I called the order in about 11:45, and they said it would be ready by 12:15. I got there a little early and I was the only person there. They were just finishing up the order. They gave me a beeper, which would be really convenient if it were nasty weather and I had to wait in the car. It only took another five minutes before the food was ready. They package everything in to-go containers (styrofoam), asked if I needed utensils, napkins, and salsa (no, no, yes), and put everything in easy to carry plastic bags.
I didn’t have long to travel. Most of the items were still warm and didn’t need to be reheated. When you open the containers, your first impression is that there is a lot of food, and there is. We had Taquitos, Chimichanga, Birria Fries, Burrito Bowl, and the Bomb Burger (mine). Everyone’s impression was that it was good, but not great. Some of the small complaints were that the flavors were not that distinctive, including my hamburger, which was well made, but the beef was a little tasteless, and the bacon was soggy, not crisp. The Burrito Bowl meat was tough and a bit too spicy. The Chimichanga tortilla wrap was soft, and not crisp as you might expect.
I like a good food truck and have had some amazing meals at some of them. Unfortunately, Matteo’s is not a place that I would expect to come back to.

When Mateo’s first came to town I was in the love with the fish and have tried many other items and also spread the word. However, I’m not sure what has changed. I do typically go for a fish fry at 11am which is when it “opens” and often being the first customer of the day.
My past two experiences haven’t been great. Last time I ordered at 11am and during the cook the fryers turned off so I had to wait additional time for them to change the propane tank and reheat the oil. No biggie, things happen. However, after getting home the food was not edible. The fish was burnt as was the the potato pancakes. Apparently they continue to cook the same fish after reheating the oil? I called and they agreed to give me another fish fry at my convenience. Problem solved.
Today I was the first customer at 11am and I could tell they were not quite ready, but I placed my order anyways and they indicated to come back at 11:30. No biggie.
I did come back at 11:30 only to wait an additional 20 minutes. Upon opening the food at home the fish fry was perfect, but they gave me the wrong burger and the Taquito order was mush (see picture). Taquitos are supposed to be crisp.
My advice for you is to start checking for quality and if your open hours start at 11 be prepared to start cooking at that time otherwise change your hours.
I don’t want to slam you because you have the best fish fry in town when cooked and served appropriately. Just my past two experiences haven’t been good at all.

Best Mexican food ever! So glad I didn’t pass this one by. The portions are great, food is excellent, and price is fair. Will be back!

We really love the Birria Burrito, but the online ordering is not great when busy. It does not account for the actual timing of the food. We waited 40 minutes past the time we selected online to pick it up. Better to stop at the truck when you can see it’s not super busy. No real benefit of ordering ahead. This time around was like a 1 or 2 star rating but gave it three cause the last two times we came I would have given it a 4

Food is pricey but its very good and good portions so well worth it. Also their salsa is actually spicy so thats good. I always stop by when im in the area. Well at least today they were a bit stingy with their portions. 25 dollars for an entree and a side is on the high side

Idk how i didnt know of this place till today cuz its outstanding.. I got the carnita street tacos with no onions add chz. It was amazing.. i even drove back home to west bend ( worried me kinda) and the food was hot n delicious. Friendly staff.. No soggy corn tortillas.. will be going back
