We got the Special Bento Box (Chicken Teri-Don, Deep-Fried Gyoza, Assorted Tempura,- sweet potato, shrimp, eggplant, Assorted Sushi – salmon, tuna, ebi, California Roll, and Tuna Maki), as well as the Spicy Chicken Karaage Don, and Matsuyama Roll (chopped scallop, tuna, salmon, cucumber, tobiko, avocado, prawn tempura). Bento Box comes with miso soup.
Out of the dishes we ordered, I enjoyed the matsuyama roll the most, but everything else was sort of just standard compared with other Japanese restaurants I’ve been to previously. Nothing fancy or noteworthy in terms of decor or seating either.
The restaurant closes in between lunch and dinner hours, so they do gently hint for you to leave once you’re finished eating.
The parking can be quite tight as there are quite a few restaurants in this small mall.
I do find the cups generally have a strong bleach smell .. they can probably clean them without using so much chemicals. You can always request for another one that doesn’t smell as strong.
However, as seen in the photos, normal muscle fibers are short and flat, while parasites are long, string-like, and slightly translucent or milky, exactly as shown.
This is completely unacceptable food handling and service. I had already eaten two pieces before noticing it. I have reported the case to Vancouver Coastal Health to ensure proper food safety inspection and to help protect other consumers.
A typical spot for no frills late night sushi.
Depends when you go, sometime there is a little bit of a wait. 10-30 minutes usually.
Not much to say about the service, food are usually pretty fast. Servers are always available and quite easy to wave down. A pretty decent no frills service.
Food are a hit or miss, but generally not bad. There are only a couple things that I didn’t like. Some dishes are fair pricing and some have gone up and are on the more expensive side. Also, depend what dish it is, some portion are generous, and some are a bit lacking.
I do like their chopped scallop cone, beef short ribs, sunomono, temura, and their nigiri is generally pretty good.
Parking are hard to find though.
It’s been a family favourite for years, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for great value and delicious bentos!
(Highly recommend the grilled salmon belly)
