Great Valentine’s Day dinner here! The beef dish and lobster were great. The star was definitely the Swiss chocolate crème brûlée. Skip the lobster bisque, it was not great. Service was incredible and the restaurant itself is gorgeous!

Celebrated an anniversary and couldn’t be happier with the food and service here. The atmosphere is very great and the restaurant is so elegant. Daniela, our server, was knowledgeable and delivered with impeccable timing. I had the filet minion and it was fantastic cooked medium. We’ll definitely be back.

Our first time there and this restaurant wowed us. Great food, awesome environment, quick friendly accurate service. Best part was the value. We were drinking wine with our meal and it came out to roughly $100 per person before tip. For an upscale experience, charming decor, mature dress-up crowd, high-end food quality and excellent menu worthy of becoming a regular…this restaurant will not dissapoint you. Highly recommend for date night or to impress business associates and colleagues. Only thing is you have to get reservations in advance since it’s a very popular place, and there is no garage or valet so parking is a challenge. Uber or Lyft is the way to go.

We had the Mother’s day brunch set menu. Food was pretty good but some dishes were a lot better than others.
Among starters, the smoked trout salad had great flavor. The crab cake was solid, nothing special. Beets were food except the vinaigrette was very sweet — sweeter than the creme brulee.
As for the mains, I was a little underwhelmed by the amount of duck in the duck confit hash — otherwise delicious. If I had to do it over, I would have gotten the filet mignon, which came with some killer roasted potatoes.

As an annual patron at Matisse since 2014 I have to say that the atmosphere and food have made no compromises in light of the pandemic. This is an excellent place to escape for a meal with family and friends. Staff and chefs are fantastic and deliver excellence.

We had a glorious celebration at Matisse for our wedding anniversary. The meal was delicious from start to finish in a sun filled, beautiful dining area. Even though the tables around us were full, you could actually hear your dining partners without straining across the table. And, the service was outstanding! Enzo, our server was highly knowledgable about the menu and very accommodating about specific dietary needs of our table guests. He was smart, charming, and added to a magical evening. A Washington restaurant gem!

Our server was amazing tonight. The dinner overall was amazing. I had a mushroom soup which was surprisingly delicate to start, and my husband had a beat dish. For dinner I had a lamb shank which was so tender. The highlight was the desert, the deserts were amazing, and it is so wonderful there is a restaurant that takes the care to do this these days. For a restaurant like this the desert is the finale, and it was wonderful. We had a passion fruit creme brûlée cheesecake and a chocolate moose cake. Both were amazing. This was right up there with some of my best meals in Paris and Nice. Highly recommended.
