Absolutely delicious Hawaiian food Every bite seriously made me feel like I was in Hawaii. The flavors were fresh, comforting, and full of aloha. You can tell everything is made with care. What IS ALWAYS consistent and never fails is the attitude of the cashier with the flower in her hair. Her horrible attitude definitely does not match how beautiful and inviting the place is decorated.

Went here for the first time. Food was delicious! The lady working the cashier who had headphones around her neck, she was super nice! She was smiling, dancing and very accommodating.
The atmosphere was cool but little outdated and dirty especially the bathrooms. Toilet paper on the floor, wish they kept it up better.

The short ribs were quite fatty. The kalua pork was surprisingly flavorless. The dole float was, tragically, unavailable due to broken machinery. The mac and potato salad was pretty good. I’d happily eat that again. The cashier was inattentive, curt in her responses, and generally unpleasant. The cleanliness was not terrible, though occasionally lacking; globs of dried, several day old, fingerprint-shaped sauce marred the condiment bottles.

The current front-of-house staff (specifically the lady with the flower behind ear- should be a cactus tho) is cold, detached, dismissive and just downright grumpy creating a really unwelcoming atmosphere. When the food is this good, the service should match. Until they put someone more professional and more welcoming up front, I’ll be sticking to their other location.” Do better!!!!

It’s our first time here. Typically, we go to the Anaheim location when we’re in the area. This place is a lot bigger and more modern. When you walk in, it is bright and beautifully decorated. You get instant islander vibes with the smell of the bbq cooking. You can even watch them cooking.
I placed my order and walked around. I was happy that this location had pani popo. They have restrooms for customers and it was nice and clean.
I ordered :
1. Sam’s plate – you can never go wrong with the beef ribs. It’s flavorful, yummy, messy goodness, and follow it with the mac/potato salad. Heaven, you can hear going “aah”
2. Steak & short ribs – I always order this but always forget that the steak is like think pieces of steak, not like a juicy chunky piece of steak, you know? If that’s what you’re expecting, don’t get it. Short ribs are deliciously messy
3. Kalua pork & cabbage – my husband loves this and be careful with this. When handling it, be careful of the juicy goodness spilling.
4. Pani popo – I’ve been wanting to try this for a while now, but the other location never has it in stock. I think I built this up so much that by the time I had it, I was disappointed. It was basically a pan de sal with coconut milk/saucy thing. It’s like a bread pudding.
Overall, the food was delicious. Service was fast, and they are efficient. Price wasn’t too bad. I think it is affordable. Portions were a good size. This location had plenty of parking and was a little more inviting.

Just get the short ribs… Trust me. Worth a 25 minute one way drive.
The rest of their food is solid, though after multiple times I’d say the chicken is consistently on the dry side (sauce does help).
Service is generally friendly. Atmosphere is a bit on the light side (meaning not a lot of depth)… We always just do pickup.

The beef rib was so delicious and flavorful as well as the macaroni salad. Large portions of beef ribs good for 2 persons. Food here is reliable but horrible customer service. The lady in the cashier was not friendly, she’s not even helpful to the customers. We went to this place 3x already and everytime we order she’s around, she’s in her 40’s I guess.

Been coming to Matikis for over 15 years, only the Anaheim location though. Today i visited the Fullerton location for the first time and had quite possibly one of the most unpleasant experiences I have ever had at a restaurant, with the woman working up at the front. She has the most horrible attitude ever and behaves extremely rude and nasty. Her sour attitude makes me never want to return to the Fullerton location and I nearly escalated the situation after her passive aggressive attitude towards me and other customers did not change. She showed no remorse when I confronted her about her horrible service and told me to get out of the store. As i was walking out some young guy that worked in the kitchen began to attempt to intimidate me by walking right up to my face and trying to scare me into walking faster. He’s lucky he didn’t escalate the situation himself because his size was not intimidating at all, and he would have found out the hard way not to judge a book by its cover. I took photos of both employees. There was a 3rd man working in the kitchen and he remained quiet and peaceful, I commend him for his professionalism.
