As much as we love Mathews Brewery, we really wanted to love the scratch kitchen. We ordered pizza, fries, pretzel bites, and the special shepherd’s pie. Everything came out pretty quickly and fresh. It, unfortunately, was loaded with salt and left a strange aftertaste. This was our first time, and we plan on returning to see if it was an off night. But holy cow, the amount of water I have consumed since this meal is insane. The fries are delicious and are shaped like scoops, which makes them perfect for loaded fries. Unfortunately, they had so much salt in them that I wiped them off before eating them. The pizza crust is perfect, but the salty sauce and grease on top made it hard to love the entire slice. I tried a leftover slice this afternoon, and it was awful. Obviously, the pretzel bites have salt, which wasn’t too much of an issue. I typically knock salt off those, and the beer cheese was delicious, once again, really salty. My fiancé typically doesn’t mind a little extra salt, and he even mentioned that it was a little much. I truly hope this was an off night for them, I really want to see this business flourish!
Wait a minute.. I’m just now seeing the response from the owner. Let me just knock that 3 star to a one star. To say that’s a lot of drama.. when you could have easily responded with a “let me look in to this”. So let me say, I will never return to Mathew’s Brewing, I will definitely take my business elsewhere. We were going to come tonight and retry the food but that is absolutely ridiculous to speak to customers this way. Also seeing someone else respond with the salty comment and they get a nice response?? No thank you!

The brewery is one of our favorite places to hang out. We were excited when we found out they were adding a food place. The food is decent but the prices for the portion you get is crazy. I ordered the white chicken chili. $7.50 for a cup, $1.50 for cheese on top and another 1.50 for sour cream. Total of $10.00 . When it came I was shocked to see that the small cup was only half full if that and the small amount of shredded cheese added on top with a little premade container of sour cream. My husband and I actually laughed. I took a picture but unfortunately there is no where to add it to the review. The meatball sub with minimal meatballs was very salty and was disappointing as well. We still enjoyed ourselves as we always do at the brewery. Next time we know to grab dinner somewhere else before hand.

Response to owner response – Ok, laugh at the paying customers two star review…. The two star review wasn’t because of the fries, it was because in general everything we’ve had was just mediocre or bad, save the chicken tenders and the eliminated fresh cut french fries. The fresh cut french fries would have kept us coming back to eat something with our beers.
