Best Italian market in town! Matera’s has offered everything you want if you’re looking for Italian cuisine products and also offers a lot of Italian bread options. Everything here is fresh made and delicious, you can get quick lunch here either dine in or Togo.

The sandwich was very good, the vegetables inside was very fresh and the bread was perfectly crisp but soft on the inside. If you are trying to find something to eat at Rutherford Matera’s is the place to go. 10/10 most definitely recommend.

I’m not sure how to articulate how great of an experience I had here but from the moment I walked in, I could almost feel there was something different about this place.
Great sandwiches, unbeatable service and super friendly people. This is the type of place that’ll bring me back to Rutherford again and I can’t say enough great things about this place. Everything and everyone exceeded my expectations and I highly recommend everyone come here to experience it for yourself.
Great food, great ingredients, SUPERB people and as mentioned already, the service was UNMATCHED. Whoever is running this place knows exactly what they’re doing because I felt like I was at my Italian family’s home.

Five stars for Maternas Italian Market. This authentic Italian deli in Rutherford New Jersey has great food with real homemade taste. They welcome service dogs so my fluffy boy and I love this place. Highly recommend.

Our office ordered takeout for delivery today (day before Thanksgiving). All of the food was amazing including the sandwiches, pepperoni bread and meatballs. I personally tried the triple chicken parmigiana sandwich and the pepperoni bread. I highly recommend both. The feedback from the others was the same. We did have an issue with our order most likely attributable to the fact it’s the day before Thanksgiving and I can only imagine how busy they were. However, the manner in which the problem was resolved, DIRECTLY BY THE OWNER, has made me a customer for life. Amazing food and unparalleled customer service – run there for your next meal out.

Placed an online order for pickup. Ordered a salad, got a sandwich which wasn’t even made as ordered. Also ordered meatballs. Ate one. That one was so dry, I threw the other two out. I can’t und how they have such a high rating on Google. Terrible. Do not recommend.

I used to love this place but the quality lately is a hit or miss. Recently ordered their drunken bowl and it could not have been any more tasteless, their stuffed shells were so dry with hardly any sauce that you could actually see the color and texture of each shell. To top it off we got overcharged for an item that has the literal price listed on the item ?
